"Capitalism created the possibility of the win win win. It used to be a zero sum game where somebody won, somebody else lost. The biggest mistake people make they still think we're in a zero sum world. They're obsessed with some billionaires because Bernie Sanders thinks that @JeffBezos and @elonmusk somehow stole the money from the people. They don't understand that it's this prosperity machine that's creating more, not just for those billionaires, but for everything that they're touching. They're creating value for their customers, they're creating value for their employees. Their suppliers are flourishing, their investors are seeing their capital go up. It can be reinvested and compound. All philanthropy ultimately comes from business. That's where the profits are. Where does all the taxes come from? It ultimately comes from business as well. This is the engine that's lifting humanity out. The entrepreneurs are the drivers of that engine. Somebody like Elon Musk, he gets a very, very, very tiny sliver of the value that he creates for the whole world." — @iamjohnmackey

RIP Tom Skerritt. This is the most memorable role for me ... The complex and self aware villain from academia.

Okay, here’s a thing: ~no enviro groups are supporting the permitting bill. I believe the bill is v good for climate. But now when I make the case, ppl assume there's some angle. There isn't. I’m loud about it bc nobody else is. If more folks showed up, I could be quieter!
i think the failure to admit that this obviously flawed compromise piece of legislation has even a single downside is what gets me the most

More exciting news from Indiana this week!
The @USNavy has selected Radiant to deploy our Kaleidos microreactor at Naval Weapons Station Crane, Indiana. With this selection, Radiant is now the only nuclear microreactor company with partnerships across the Army, Navy and Air Force. The Navy has more than 70 years of safe reactor operations. It wrote the playbook on reactor safety. Earning its confidence is powerful independent validation of Kaleidos. This milestone moves us closer to our goal: reliable, resilient nuclear power wherever the mission demands. Through our work with all three branches, we’re building a clear path from military deployment to nuclear energy at scale for government and commercial customers. This is real, not AI. I rarely drive anymore because my Tesla does it for me. @elonmusk literally solved self driving electric cars, resuable rockets, commercial space vehicles, human brain interface, satellite wifi, and is currently advancing progress on robotics/AI. He changed the society with his purchase and course correction of Twitter. He's Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, and Tony Stark rolled into one. And he just made a flying rocket car. Anyone who says he's not a genius is definitely not a genius themselves. They're whatever the opposite of a genius is.

I just watched Bladerunner (1982) last month. I thought one part that aged poorly was the fog effect and flying cars ... And then ...

Fascinating
I’ve been in the clean energy industry as an entrepreneur for 15 years after a prior career in Dem politics as a bona fide progressive. Without changing many of my views I’ve left that community behind. By far the most frustrating experiences I’ve had on the ground developing solar were in counties run by leftie democrats in my home state of Maryland which is behind now on clean energy goals. They always thought they had a better idea or were smarter than the entire solar community combined. I see that same dynamic with @RepHuffman on permitting reform. Jared, your home state of California is BEHIND on the SB 100 goals. Permits, interconnects, transmission are part of the reason why. THIS is the legislation we believe in. We know our businesses and what removes the rate limiters. We need to elect politicians who want to BUILD the future. (Oh by the way Maryland Dem legislature eventually passed a great permitting bill.)

If you're reading tweets claiming that #BAAJA helps #datacenters by letting them get speed for "flexing at peak", they are wrong. This simplification is dangerous. It misses the engineering reality of the grid. If a large load only curtails during system-wide peak hours, it can still fail IX studies and won't get powered faster. Grid constraints aren't just about system-wide capacity. Steady-state analysis evaluates N-1 contingencies (like unexpectedly losing a transformer or transmission line). These trigger severe localized thermal limits and congestion, which can easily happen off-peak. BAAJA’s breakthrough isn't peak shaving; it's codifying "non-firm transmission service". The bill mandates standardized evaluation of "cost reduction options" to create a regulatory hook for "non-firm withdrawal limits that avoid network upgrades". The real speed mechanism: get faster interconnection and lower transmission rates not by dodging peak pricing, but by acting as true congestion-accepting resources. They are legally and economically binding themselves to localized, node-specific physics. BAAJA makes what we've already written for Texas as #PCLR, possible for FERC grids.

Data centers build their own gas bc they can’t connect to grid fast enough. BAAJA changes this: 1) DCs that agree to flex at peak get a discount & faster hookup. 2) It makes it easier to build clean power on the grid. Some grid gas will get built, but it has to compete w clean.
Does the bill mandate that data centers must connect to the grid?

Elon Musk, Larry Ellison, and Jeff Bezos spend $150B per year to directly employ nearly 2 MILLION people. Thats an average of $85K per year for 2 million people to put a roof over their head, feed their families, buy a car. I don’t have that insecure commie gene that makes people hate successful people. I see successful people and I admire them. Even when I’ve lost everything and am taking on SBA disaster loans, I still can’t fathom hating rich people just for being rich. Not all rich people earned their wealth…I live in LA, trust me, I know. But if you build a business and employ millions of people, I just don’t understand the hate. It’s pure envy and self-loathing. The irony is so much of this hate comes from people driving Teslas and ordering on Amazon while bitching on social media platforms powered by Oracle servers. This commie mentality is loserthink.
I'd rather have an economy that makes 1,000 millionaires than 1 billionaire.

I bought a Tesla. The choice was simple; do I want a car or do I want a car + driver. FSD is as good as everyone says. Moreover, FSD will only get better at driving while I will only get worse. At similar price point there really is no reason to buy any other car.

What a time to be alive.
I bought a Tesla in July and have basically retired from driving. If you can afford to you should too. It’s the most dangerous thing you do every day and Tesla’s robots are better at it.
