🤦♂️From an email from canadaminute.ca:
Government House Leader Steven MacKinnon told the Commons Finance Committee that the Canadian Transportation Agency has proven incapable of running the air passenger complaints system, which has about 97,000 unresolved complaints and typical waits of three years for a decision.
Under Bill C-31, the government's second budget implementation bill, airlines would hire and pay designated adjudicators to decide passenger compensation disputes against themselves, replacing the current taxpayer-funded process. MacKinnon said the government believes it can eliminate the backlog in a reasonable period, though he gave no timeline, and that taxpayers should no longer bear the cost of the adjudications.
Conservative MP Dan Albas noted that the government gave the agency $76 million over three years to increase its processing capacity and asked who has been held accountable, warning that airlines will pass the new costs on to passengers.
The Canadian Automobile Association, Air Passenger Rights, Option Consommateurs, and Flight Claim have all opposed letting airlines choose who rules on complaints against them. Flight Claim CEO Jacob Charbonneau told a Senate committee in September that the agency rules for passengers in 57% of cases, but carriers pay years later with no interest or penalty.
Accounting tricks. Always meant to deceive.

In 1942, America was at war. Alaska needed fuel. Japanese subs could sink transports.
There was oil at Norman Wells in Canada’s Northwest Territories.
The problem?
It was on the other side of one of the most remote mountain ranges on earth.
So they decided to build a pipeline across it. 1/5
westernstandard.news/opinion… There is more than enough gas resource to supply datacenters, (even IF all proposals went ahead and they won't), AB industrial, commercial, & residential supply, and LNG exports. The Duvernay & Montney are just that prolific & massive. Nevermind the Notikewin, Viking, Cardium, associated gas from other formations & the ultimate back up cbm if prices got that high, (spoiler: they won't). If high electricity prices arrive some day it won't be due to a lack of supply of gas. It will be due to generating capacity expansion delays: equipment & Regulator delays & government taxes/fees/levies. And thus, only for a few months. If at all.

Late breaking Friday good news: Roberts Bank Terminal 2, the major expansion of Canada’s biggest port, the Port of Vancouver, has become the second major project to be designated in the national interest.
It’s where the Pacific Link pipeline terminus is also expected to be.

After 262 days in hospital, Maya is finally going home.
Her incredible courage and fighting spirit, and the unwavering love of her family, are an inspiration.
Maya, you have amazed us all. May God bless you with continued strength and healing on the road ahead.
262 days.
It’s been 262 days since you were airlifted to BC Children’s Hospital.
262 days since we were told, “We did everything we could, but we don’t think she’s going to make it through the night.”
Since then, I’ve watched you fight for every single one of those days.
251 days ago, you opened your eye, moved it, and shifted your leg only to be rushed back for emergency surgery that morning when hydrocephalus set in.
238 days ago, you were extubated and breathed on your own for the first time.
230 days ago, you felt the sun on your face again.
224 days ago, the cranioplasty we had planned turned into yet another emergency when an infection was discovered.
214 days ago, your EVD was finally removed.
213 days ago, you sat on the edge of the bed with a little help, and I wrapped my arms around you for the first time since the morning I left for work before any of this began.
191 days ago, the NG tube came out, and I saw your beautiful face completely clear of tubes and tape.
179 days ago, your prosthetic skull was placed. Your fifth surgery, and the one that finally stuck. After that, things slowly began to feel possible again.
145 days ago, you smiled for the first time (intentionally) while we played thumb war.
140 days ago, I wheeled you off hospital grounds for the very first time.
61 days ago, I heard your voice again.
40 days ago, we celebrated your 13th birthday at the Foo Fighters.
And today, today you’re being released.
There was never a day I stopped believing we would get here. The road ahead is still long, but this is a milestone no one thought we would reach. Maya, you are the bravest person I know. You are an inspiration to so many people. Giving up was never an option for me, and it clearly never was for you either. You refused to accept the words we heard 262 days ago when you came out of the OR. Look at you, my girl. You blew every expectation out of the water.
Thank you to the incredible nurses, doctors, and therapists who walked every step of this with us. Thank you to everyone who supported Maya and our family we could not have done this without each and every one of you.
Now it’s time to leave these hospital walls behind and keep moving forward, Maya Bear.
I love you forever and always.
—Dad ❤️

The wall of money that is coming towards governments from the upstream sector is difficult to comprehend. In the first 9 months of 2026 @ImperialOil has paid more in cash taxes and royalties than it did in either all of '24 or '25...and there is 3 months to go. Moreover, when compared to the first 9 months in '25 $IMO.TO has paid 110% more cash taxes and 53% more royalties.

For the third time, Canada's appellate Courts have determined the Impact Assessment Act to be unconstitutional.
My colleague Martin Ignasiak, one of Canada’s top lawyers on energy regulation, argues the federal government should not appeal, but instead focus on developing amendments or a new statute that is consistent with the original intention of federal environmental assessment. In the meantime it should immediately amend the designated project list and remove oil and gas projects, mining projects and renewable projects.

Canada could be selling 250,000 barrels of oil per day.
At a premium price into Asian markets.
Without costing taxpayers a cent.
But Carney’s ban on shipping means we are selling our oil at a discount to the U.S. costing Canadians billions every year.
It makes no sense.
Repeal the ban!

By voting against Bill C-264, the Liberals voted to keep barriers that block new energy exports and leave Canada dependent on the U.S. market.
Lifting the tanker ban would help open our West Coast to new opportunities, attract investment, and create well-paying jobs. Canadian workers deserve a government that backs their livelihoods and gets Canadian energy to our allies.
