If something needs “guardrails”, then maybe we don’t need it at all. Ban mass surveillance.

NEW: Republican Jeff Dial, a former state senator, has called Democrat Sebastian Matta to concede the Maricopa County Clerk of Superior Court race, both candidates tell me. Matta, a 19-year-old ASU student, will lead the clerk's office in the nation's 4th-largest county. @abc15

Do you know which of the elections has the most direct impact on your everyday life? Your local school board race. Why? Because school boards make decisions that affect your property taxes, your neighborhood schools and amenities, and the education your kids receive. And now there’s something else to pay attention to… how AI is used in classrooms, what students are being taught about it… and the data AI collects about your children. School board races may not get the attention of the bigger elections… but the decisions made at the neighborhood level hit a lot closer to home. Check out school board elections in Maricopa County: elections.maricopa.gov/resul…

From the time I was in high school America has been at war, often by its own choice, and Americans have paid the price. And though this one might have been necessary, it is clear from the state and national results last night that voters have not yet been persuaded. From lions of the conservative movement like Andy Biggs to the Hobbs appointed Republican state mine inspector, from freedom caucus members in purple districts to moderates in red districts, voters delivered a stunning rebuke to the national Republican party in the home of the modern conservative movement. Like many of you, I am heartbroken for Arizona. I understand why voters are angry. I regret the harm that the message they sent to Washington will do to the state that I love. For unlike Republicans, Democrats understand the power of institutions and durable structures. In the next six months our new liberal trifecta they will rewrite the rules of our elections so as to make our descent into California-like levels of disfunction and poverty difficult to reverse. They will erect a state version of USAID as a permanent funding mechanism. School choice will be decimated and every effort will be made to indoctrinate the future into docile compliance. Voters fired a warning shot across the country - it ricochet and hit our home and children. My own campaign feels almost besides the point, but I want to tell each staffer, ballot chaser, and grassroots volunteer that you did an exceptional job (thanks mom). Because of you we held our own or outperformed other campaigns at the top of the ticket with a quarter the resources. If there was something you could have done differently I know it would eat at you, as it would at me. There was nothing. This was not about us. Keep your head up - you are the foundation upon which this party will rebuild. Hopefully, our rebirth will include the development of institutions rooted in our fundamental principles: Individual rights and freedoms. Arizonans voted overwhelmingly to ban taxes and mass surveillance. They may yet approve Prop 144 to protect their elections. They are telling us this state still treasures its liberty. Let's start there. To my beloved wife and children: I've missed you. I'm home now. This morning I put on a suit and went to the office to live another day of my American dream. Besides, I have a feeling that constitutional lawyers will soon be in strong demand. For Arizona, Alexander Kolodin

Good morning, Arizona. As the results continue to come in, I want to share my gratitude for everyone who worked so hard on my race and all the other races across the state. So many of you sacrificed your time and your treasure. I want to thank the state and local parties. You guys worked so hard. Sergio, you and your team worked your tails off. You guys made a lot of great improvements that helped the candidates with their races. I also want to thank all the candidates who ran. It’s harder than ever to run for office. This may have been the toughest cycle ever. The opposition was unprecedented. For everyone who donated, placed a yard sign, posted on social media, held an event, or volunteered, thank you. If it were just for your efforts, we would be celebrating a win, but we know that a wave of dissatisfaction has swept the nation. The votes coming in now are overwhelmingly in our favor, but we have a large gap to close. When the counting is done, we will accept the results. Some reflections on what happened across the nation yesterday. The top issue was affordability. People didn’t just want Bidenflation to end. They wanted affordability to return. They wanted prices to come down. But to do that, you must stop the out of control spending. As the great Milton Friedman said, “Inflation is made in Washington, D.C.” Republicans had the trifecta in Washington and didn’t deliver. The reckless spending continues. And the country made it clear they want a change. But the carnage didn’t stop with federal candidates. Voters continued down ballot. Local incumbents who had won over and over again got wiped out, even in bright-red states. Do you think the Democrats will now reduce the out of control spending? Their solutions call for even more spending than Republicans. And the rising Democratic socialists want even more spending than the traditional Democrats. If they take total control, the rampant inflation will return. We need a federal balanced budget amendment because neither party has enough members with the self control to balance the federal budget. Even the worst run states, like California, are more fiscally responsible than Washington, D.C., because they are required to balance their budgets. People want affordability, but the repudiation of Congress that has spilled over to local races will deliver unintended consequences. Many, many people have lost races even though they had a long history of making things more affordable at the local level. And in many cases, spenders have been replaced with mega-spenders. Kudos to Florida and the infrastructure built by Governor DeSantis. He has shown the model for prosperity and responsible government. Florida stands out as a state that won in spite of the unprecedented headwinds. We would be wise to replicate their model.

Watching all these pundits come out with articles about “WHAT HAPPENED??” in AZ… and all I can tell ya is that many of those who sided with Big Tech lost or are fighting to hold on. The biggest defenders of the Fourth Amendment are in good position.
Many Arizona conservatives who led the effort to codify license plate readers, expand photo radar, and implement digital ID checks lost their elections. These were hot button issues for citizens of all political stripes. Arizona may be in line to have an all new conversation on privacy protections in 2027. #FourthAmendment @LaurenKuby
