@JessBAuthor Where the Wilderness Lives. So many stories cleverly woven together- boat living, parent separation, cyber bullying, new school, mystery, foster care, hearing dog…. Wales!! Loved it. Especially Gwyon’s tale running alongside before the two intertwined. So clever

Apart from finding other people, shelter, water, food, making a distress signal and a fire and staying positive, an interesting tip is to go scavenging – I was amazed at the things that washed up on the beach, including lots of plastic! #SCBWIchat

One of the only items Lark has with her is her notebook. She finds a washed up pen and begins writing a letter to send out for help - she thinks someone was trying to kill her. #SCBWIchat

A sense of place and setting usually come first before I develop my characters. I love to do research then I get everything down in a very messy short draft. Then I take time to work out the story, flesh it out, edit. #SCBWIchat
