A car nearly getting hit by a train as the Greens announce they want to get rid of all the level crossings on Auckland’s Western Line is incredible

Very good article from Jonathan Killick in The Post on how disappointing the final judgement is on John Sax-he effectively gets off with a tax deductible wet bus ticket and partly cause he donated to charity?the charity in case fought to stop civil unions. thepost.co.nz/nz-news/361088…

4 years later developer got fined 170k and 15k for John Sax ourauckland.aucklandcouncil.…
I've found this hard to tweet about bcos it is SO wrong - but seems so hard to get something to happen about. SO a developer has been building up land alongside Waikaraka Cycleway - which they r allowed to do as it is heavy industrial zone (was coastal management b4 unitary plan)

What a fun day on our piece of infrastructure that no one could ever possibly find a reason to moan about

I’m starting to believe Christine Fletcher doesn’t actually want apartments near train stations after all because what does this even MEAN nzherald.co.nz/nz/auckland/m…

The way Auckland Transport is dealing with the Albany/Upper harbour driveway is a prime example of scope creep which will mean an easy win project gets mired in multiple business cases and nothing gets done. This intersection is at the end of Upper Harbour Drive (protected lanes)

Fixing this was funded by the CATTR and would basically have meant putting in a crossing across the highway so that pedestrians and cars could cross safely without being dumped into the right lane of a 3 lane highway. But then someone decided they needed to fix congestion too

Now the project could cost up to 83 million dollars and has no construction date in sight. The local board has pushed back on this but only got vague promises of staging the construction @BikeAKL @GreaterAKL

I’m sure Christine Fletcher, @dbseymour and co will be putting out press releases about this development not being suitable due to a lack of infrastructure nzherald.co.nz/nz/controvers…

Did not expect to wake up and read this take from @HelenClarkNZ . Of course we want to be able to buy houses within 10km of the city centre. That is basically the entire Auckland isthmus!

I can guarantee you that within this circle is exactly the area people wanting affordable houses want to buy. The "can" part is why the minimal changes of the revised PC120 are much needed

What has Arena Williams done to piss off the labour top dogs? Great performer in the house, excellent social media presence etc
NEW: Labour has announced its list for the election with several first-time candidates rocketed well ahead of current caucus members - and the news that Greg O'Connor won't be standing at all
