Nakakairita ang pinoy food kasi bihira ang purong gulay na dish. Laging may pansahog na maliliit na meat or maliliit na seafood.

i love this because a few years ago people were talking about "u don't owe anyone anything" and now everyone is talking about how hard it is to make friends as an adult, but they don't see the correlation and that's why they're mad at this video

The way to be “cool” is to have cheap housing in a big city so all the bohemian and beatnik types who make $20K/year can come in and do their artsy stuff. This was what Berlin did in the 1990s. Right now SF is just for people making $400K+ a year. And those people will never be cool.
We ought to romanticize SF more if we ever want this city to be actually cool

Everybody I've met who talks like this either has no self respect or is literally so dysfunctional they can't interact with other people in a normal way and the amazing thing is that none of them have "been extraordinary". You should work exactly how much you feel like working.
I don’t agree. A PhD student should not prioritize work-life balance. Getting to do a PhD is a privilege. You are paid to think. There is no pressure for you to be economically useful. It is a unique opportunity to push the boundaries of human knowledge and produce something ground breaking. And nothing great ever happens without complete devotion. Look at everything that moved and shaped the world. Every single person who created anything meaningful, in science, in arts, in music, in movies, devoted their lives to their craft. Extraordinary outcomes require extraordinary inputs and some degree of sacrifice. Sure, have work-life balance during your PhD. But be content a mediocre outcome.

For decades, biology textbooks have enshrined a simple rule: DNA is made by copying a template. After one enzyme unzips a DNA double helix into separate strands, another called a polymerase builds a complementary sequence, base by base, for each strand. Presto: two copies of the original DNA. But new research into how bacteria defend themselves from viruses now shows this synthesis rule isn’t absolute. Now, a team describes a bacterial enzyme that synthesizes DNA without a nucleic acid template, using its own structure as a guide. Learn more: scim.ag/4tTc5IA @NewsfromScience

You know that thing that happens to you, a moment so profound it splits your life into two parts, a before and after. Grief is exactly that. You know you’ll never be the version of yourself that existed before. That person didn’t know how cruel this life could be.
grievers know what grief does to the heart, how it forces perspective, how, really, it can be the defining wound of your life. trying to explain that to people who have never had their heart’s depths tested is futile. you know this because you know who you were before the grief

That suffering is holy. A lot of it is man-made and avoidable. It’s not part of some bigger meaning or divine test. It’s not God’s plan or some higher purpose but the result of broken systems, neglect, and injustice.
