If the players have downed tools on him nothing will change for the rest of the season. We’ll be in the situation Tottenham were in last season where they panicked trying to find someone to save them from relegation at the backend of the season
🚨 Manchester United have decided to continue with Michael Carrick as head coach. Despite Bournemouth and Como defeats, #MUFC hierarchy decides to give Carrick more time to fix things. Player also informed. Up next: Chelsea-Man United on Saturday. Carrick will be there.

Carrick did an incredible job to steady the ship and get us back into the Champions League. Sadly this season the players have completely downed tools. Carrick isn’t the man to get us back to the top but until the ownership/board change, no manager will be.
WOW THIS IS MENTAL United fans all singing and supporting Carrick and as soon as he goes down the tunnel everyone boos the players😳

That was a really really tough watch one of the worst first half’s I think we’ve had since SAF retired for sure. The players don’t look like they have anything to play for or to care for. Not for the fans, not for the manager and not for each other

7 points in 7 games. Average of 38 points across the season. Last season West Ham were relegated with 39…

I don’t think we actually could have invested more in the summer. The club is so poorly run that despite high revenue we still had a loss of £43 million. Under UEFA’s financial regulations we’re only allowed a loss of €60-€90 million. We literally can’t have spent more
🚨 Lisandro Martinez calls out Manchester United's recruitment following the loss to Atletico in an interview with Amazon. "We had a fantastic season last season and now we expect more from the top." Q: This is not a UCL-quality squad? Did you expect more investment in the summer? "Yes, 100%. "I expected more from our technical director... "[Carrick] does his best... You can keep changing, changing, changing the manager, but what about other areas? I can't say more. "It's easy to say the coach. It's easy to say the players, but we also have to 'see' others [who are to blame]."

Done with the season. 9 games in and I’m already numb to the losses. Carrick is out of his depth, the players can’t string a few passes together and the board failed to properly strengthen in the summer. Same old on repeat every season at this point

This game is definitely winnable but I don’t trust us in the slightest bit to win it

My thoughts on this: 1. Bentancur’s challenge was two footed and out of control. It endangered Shaw and the challenge is a red. 2. Shaw’s push should be a red for excessive force but officials have set a precedent that pushes are only a yellow. 3. The headbutt is a clear red.
Rodrigo Bentancur dives in on Luke Shaw and it's all kicking off at Old Trafford! 🫨

I also think Stuart Attwell let one of two fouls go just before this and gave advantage/had his whistle to his mouth. In hindsight he should’ve recognised the intensity of the situation and below for a foul before this even happened it would’ve avoided the whole altercation

Such a strange goal Martinez gave up, Solanke didn’t really try to head the ball and Lammens just stands there
Tottenham's goal. Thoughts ?

Honestly it’s absolutely pathetic. Don’t like that you’re caught cheating so threaten the geopolitical relationship with the country. Embarrassing…
🚨 | MAJOR BREAKING: The UAE is reportedly warning Prime Minister Andy Burnham that it could pull BILLIONS OF POUNDS of future investment from the UK in response to the #ManCity verdict. The threat reportedly includes funding sought for the Oxford–Cambridge tech corridor – billed as Britain’s answer to Silicon Valley. [via @rmendick]

Well that’s City’s modern history dead and buried in the dust. The punishment has to be so significant to send them back to the position they were in before the breaches. They can’t get off lightly or it’ll just encourage other clubs to do the same as they have
🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Manchester City found guilty on virtually all charges relating to breaches of Premier League financial regulations. #MCFC expected to appeal against verdict issued by independent commission. Sanctions undecided, process ongoing @TheAthleticFC nytimes.com/athletic/7049721…

He could’ve chosen any slightly controversial decision from any game but chooses the City game where VAR made a top 2 worst decision in its EPL era which literally caused us to lose what a clown 😂
🚨🚨🎙️| Arvalo Arbeloa (Fulham manager) on the referee: “There were so many things for them, you can see it in the foul by [Harry] Maguire. Every decision was for them. I knew after the game against Manchester City that they don't like Manchester United to lose.”

I think it is a yellow card. If a trip is enough to be “violent conduct” then where do you draw the line? Should a push be a straight red card? Probably not. The threshold is “excessive force or brutality” which I don’t think it meets

Think the difficulty with this one is that the ref didn’t give it so VAR would’ve only intervened if it was a clear and obvious error. I don’t think it’s clear that he gets the man before the ball
🤯 '𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐚 𝐅𝐎𝐔𝐋 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐀𝐋𝐓𝐘' - Ex-PGMOL chief @HACKETTREF can't believe KMI panel said James Tarkowski's tackle vs Man Utd didn't warrant a spot-kick #JamesTarkowski #Everton #ManUtd

If that’s true genuinely how entitled is he? A 15 year old throwing his toys out the pram because he didn’t get a champions league game… 15!
🚨 JJ Gabriel’s entourage were unhappy with Michael Carrick’s decision to hand Shea Lacey and Harry Amass their Champions League debuts against Sabah. Gabriel and his team believe he should've been given that chance ahead of those players. This was the final straw. (Source: @samuelluckhurst)

Nail on the head. Either the officials are that poor they completely missed an aspect of offside that it is pretty commonly considered each season that everyone is aware of or they intentionally ignored it. Either way it’s a terrible look for them
Final thing on the offside goal I’m not buying PGMOL’s claim that Matt Donahue VAR simply failed to recognise that Enzo attempted to play the ball He spent a good minute rocking back and forth to see if Enzo got his head to the ball, he physically couldn’t have missed that Enzo attempted to play the ball The reality in my opinion, is that he completely forgot the laws of the game relating to interfering from an offside position. He looked only at whether Enzo touched the ball, because he thought that was the only rule he needed to look at. And THAT, raises enormous questions over the standards of Premier League officials

What I can’t get my head around is the fact that we were all saying it whilst they were reviewing it that Fernandez had clearly interfered & the commentators were saying it. How could qualified and paid officials in one of the biggest fixtures in the world completely forget it?
The officials ‘lost focus’ apparently but they ‘know the rules inside out’

I think a points system should exist for officials in the Premier League, Championship and EFL Leagues where they get docked points for errors and gain points for good games and each week the officials with the most points get the Premier League and bigger games
The VAR and Assistant VAR from Sunday's fixture will now not officiate until at least after the international break.
