Tell me something GOOD! 💚
Last month, the @KC_ChildSupport’s Community Crusaders volunteered their Saturday morning to hang out with a few furry friends. They joined together and participated in @KCAnimalService’s Streets of Bakersfield program, which is a short-term foster program where the public can take shelter dogs on day outings. 🐕🦺☀️
These outings help shelter dogs manage kennel stress, burn off energy and get more exposure to potential adopters. They met up at the Park at River Walk to enjoy a nice morning of walks, treats, and cooling off in the water. 🐶🦴💦
The group shared their experience was very rewarding and will leave a paw imprint on their hearts forever! 🐾

Pupdate:
The rescued pup from the Breckenridge area is on the mend and well taken care of by Kern County Animal Services staff. He’s been appropriately given the name “Walker” and has been offered a foster home by the firefighter who rescued him once he’s off duty 💙
We are still hoping to reunite Walker with his owner. His profile can be found on the displaced pets of the Borel Fire webpage set up by @KCAnimalService . Please visit their page to get info on Walker and other pets found in the evacuation areas of the Borel Fire.

Firefighters assigned to the Borel Fire assisted a four legged friend in serious need of rescue near the Breckenridge Station.
Personnel on duty had this to share:
“As we were trying to move towards the next set of structures I saw the dog running on to the road to get away from the fire so I tried to call it over. Once we caught it we noticed its paw had been burned. The situation called for the dog to stay in engine with us while we continued to fight fire for the next few hours”.
The pup has been treated/rehabilitated and is now with Animal Services, hoping to reunite with its owner.
