Galbraith writes about production as immaterial at source (production as the origin of wants etc.) Answers why a vested interest in economic output survives post-materialism and production isn't post-social or "xeno-economic" after the fact

Russia’s idea of peace isn’t peace at all. It’s the subjugation of Ukraine, and it would all but guarantee another war. Just some of Russia’s demands: 🔴 Surrender the entire Donbas, including territory Russia doesn’t control 🔴 Drastically limit Ukraine’s armed forces 🔴 Recognise Russia’s annexation of occupied Ukrainian territories 🔴 Permanently renounce NATO membership 🔴 Accept permanent neutrality and abandon Western military alliances 🔴 Roll back NATO’s military presence in Europe to Russia’s preferred terms This is a recipe for disaster, and nothing the free world should even consider agreeing to.

This is shameful. What's the value of this recognition while they are committing war crimes in Ukraine and illegally recruiting Ghanaian citizens to die in their war of aggression. Weak and shameful.
President John Dramani Mahama has been honoured by Russia’s Peoples’ Friendship University (RUDN University) in recognition of his commitment to expanding access to education and strengthening Ghana-Russia cooperation in education and scientific research. The university cited Ghana’s efforts to promote equal educational opportunities, including support for more than 152,000 first-year students at public universities and free higher education for students with disabilities. It also acknowledged President Mahama’s personal academic ties to Russia, where he received his postgraduate education, as well as the longstanding educational partnerships between Ghana and RUDN University. #MahamaInRussia #RussiaAfricaForum

War crimes, crimes against humanity and evidence of human trafficking. A new report by the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine 🇺🇦, mandated by the @UN_HRC, documents all three. The Commission concluded that Russia committed war crimes by deliberately attacking civilian objects and crimes against humanity through systematic attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. As Estonia 🇪🇪 has consistently said, Russia is using cold and darkness to inflict suffering and break Ukrainians’ resistance. The Commission also found compelling evidence that Russian authorities trafficked men from 29 countries into their armed forces through deception and coercion. Many were killed or went missing after being sent to the front. We must strengthen Ukraine’s defences, increase pressure on Russia and hold those responsible accountable.
The @UN Commission of Inquiry on #Ukraine found in a new report that Russian authorities: ➡️ Committed crimes against humanity through attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure ➡️ Trafficked foreign nationals to fight in their armed forces in Ukraine. 👉 bit.ly/4BqJhff

Doomed craze that created a million apologists of tech/corporate fraud. Hyperstition is not Poiesis. Hyperstition is a scam
It's impossible to understand Silicon Valley without grasping "hyperstition" Hyperstition describes self-fulfilling prophecies that come true through their hype and spread. Sci-fi that becomes real through mass belief. It is the goal of most Silicon valley start-ups to hype an imagined future system or product until it becomes a reality. Bitcoin and AI are seen as successful examples of hyperstition. Failed examples appear when a hyped future-product fails to become a reality or to live up to the hype, these include Theranos, WeWork and Juicero. Although the theory was coined by British academics Nick Land and Mark Fisher of the CCRU - Hypersitition has deeper roots in Californian New Age culture - in beliefs like 'manifestation' in which people believe they can manifest wealth or health or world peace just by the power of thinking about it. We could redefine it as 'magical thinking that becomes real'. Achieving AI superintelligence and the colonisation of Mars are examples of hyperstitious beliefs today, this is why defenders of these endeavours become so emotional if you questions whether these things will ever be possible. You, by being skeptical, are ruining the accumulated flow of hype and belief that will force the dream to become real through the magic of hyperstition.

I've been saying this for a very long time. Tech Right is basically a signifier for a transnational fascist grooming cult pretending to have political and technical legitimacy. A bunch of IP looters and racists
yes. i wish more people saw further ahead on this. if we’ve become too selfish to care about others’ safety, then think about the implications for creativity & innovation

These are racists who treat social complexity as an engineering problem, mistaking their own insecurities and deep delusions for a grand philosophical project. It rarely gets the pushback it deserves. There is nothing comedic or entertaining about any of this.

A great reminder of why we cannot stay silent when influential people endorse dehumanizing theories or platform hate (e.g., the Dark Enlightenment, Dugin, Surkov, etc.). History proves you cannot feign innocence when they follow through on their horrifying logic
Replying to @Robdekoter
Your observation touches upon a crucial aspect of human psychology: the malleability of moral standards under certain conditions. Indeed, the human capacity to shift moral stands, sometimes under the influence of external pressures like state policy, propaganda, or societal norms, is a significant phenomenon. The Nazi regime adeptly manipulated these norms through the systematic dehumanization of certain groups, portraying them as lesser or subhuman. This facilitated a disturbing shift in societal moral values, making previously unthinkable acts seem justifiable or necessary. The state's role in this transformation was pivotal, as it not only propagated these ideas but also codified them into laws and regulations, thus normalizing and legalizing evil acts. Individuals found themselves in an environment where atrocious acts were not only legal but often rewarded, further entrenching these behaviors. This process underscores the dangerous power of dehumanization and the role of authoritative structures in shaping moral norms. It serves as a reminder of the need for constant vigilance and critical thinking in any society to prevent the erosion of universal human rights. Because there are situations when definitions of good and bad can be shifted, eroded, and manipulated. You can also say that many believed in what they were doing, but at some point they also got the understanding that the world around them - that begins to win the war - does not share this view and will hold them accountable of the crimes they perpetrated.
