The grocery store is where Americans feel the affordability crisis every week.
Over the past several months, we’ve spoken with families across the country about what rising grocery costs actually means for them.
This film captures some of those conversations — the tradeoffs people are making, the ways they’re changing how they shop, and the frustration that even doing everything “right” still isn’t enough.
New from @Gallup: confidence in government to improve lives fell sharply this year.
We can turn it around with commonsense relief people feel now: cap monthly out-of-pocket healthcare costs, end the tariffs on food, and stop corporate pricing games on groceries would be a good start.

Today’s housing data underscores what Americans already know: housing is too expensive and relief can’t wait.
Our latest survey with @GSG found that 36% of Americans rank housing among their biggest financial pressures, second only to groceries.

If you missed the @SIEPR X @KitchenTblProj Healthcare Forum a few weeks ago, don't worry: @rcobooth wrote up the public option panel in @voxdotcom this morning 👇
The public option got cut from the Affordable Care Act, but an obscure waiver that was included has since been used by 3 states to launch their own public options.
I wrote about these policy experiments and what they could mean for 2028 and beyond:

Today’s Consumer Price Index report reflects what families are feeling: high prices continue to squeeze household budgets. In our latest poll, a majority of Americans said tariffs and the war in Iran are driving up grocery costs. thekitchentableproject.org/g…
September brought little relief to the accelerating cost of living, as consumer prices increased again and kept the inflation rate well above the Federal Reserve’s goal.
The consumer price index, a broad measure of goods and services costs across the U.S. economy, rose a seasonally adjusted 0.6% for the month, putting the 12-month rate at 3.7%, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Wednesday. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones expected respective gains of 0.6% and 3.6%.

We heard the same tension from small business owners across Iowa and America: costs keep going up, but there’s only so much they can pass along to their customers. For people like Cory, that means tighter margins and tougher choices about how to keep serving their communities.

Our new poll with @GSG shows how families are responding to high prices, who they blame, and what they want done about it.
Our latest polling confirms ~3-in-4 Americans are already doing everything they can to stretch their grocery budgets — coupons, store brands, shopping around, and skipping items altogether.
These tips can help families navigate high prices. But policymakers can do more to bring those prices down.

Thank you for your leadership and for the opportunity to share more about what we’re hearing from families across the country.
I sat down with @KitchenTblProj to discuss how rising costs are hurting families – from groceries to housing to healthcare.

Life has become too expensive. We must continue fighting for working families and that's what I'm focused on at the Capitol.
Groceries are now the top financial stressor for American families. đź›’
Our Chair Lael Brainard joined @TheKellyOGrady on @CBSNews 24/7 to talk about what that means for families at kitchen tables across the country.
