At the very next meeting after Deana voiced her budget concerns, @LCPSOfficial announced a hiring pause & suggested closing 4 schools. What school board says hey we can’t afford schools or more teachers, but we can totally pay for a warehouse & more admin staff? Reprehensible behavior by public servants!
LCPS Board member Deana Griffiths believes it isn’t the right time for LCPS to buy/lease a warehouse, add staff & operate a multi-million dollar hub for distribution of clothing & supplies, noting costs are TBD and there are overall budget concerns at LCPS.

How does LCPS approve $7.1M and 8 new positions for a resource hub, with the building cost still unknown, then two weeks later announce a hiring pause and put western Loudoun schools on the chopping block?

Replying to @LCPSDoBetter
LCPS's job is to educate kids, not to provide free child care. Before the board takes a single western school off the map, it should explain why classrooms are on the chopping block while new non-instructional programs are on the wish list.

Just to be clear, if you are an HR representative or a manager who is hiring H-1B workers or offshoring American jobs to India you are a filthy traitor.

I love how the board just gives away purchasing power but worries about pronouns in the policy 🤪 ***Pronoun amendments passed, 7-2 vote
šŸ‘‰Tune in tomorrow to the @LCPSOfficial board as it debates the proper use of possessive pronouns in an amendment to a purchasing policy 🤔🤔🤔

Public comment at LCPS Board meeting: Can you invest $10m for expansion of after school programs in Sterling? Likely Board answer: No problem, let's just close some schools in western Loudoun to fund it!

One week LCPS has money for a new social services hub and the next week it's time to close some schools bc budget. šŸ‘‰ What is your mission, school board?
If they are passing out sneakers AT THE SCHOOLS, has anyone thought to ask why the LCPS school board voted to spend $1.37m on a social services hub? Why are we closing schools but building socialist communities in LCPS? How long until they start housing students at this hub?šŸ’”

Tips for Loudoun County Public Schools
This is what an ineffective school board spends its time doing. This distracts from the district's failure and harms the students of the district the most. This is what effective school boards do.

Remember when @LCPSOfficial DEI Director was suspended?
With $2.67 Billion spent in FY 2027, and no accountability below $250K, the place is primed for fraud. I wonder if that’s what the DEI director was doing?

If Microsoft is offering buyouts and early retirement to 60,000 employees, then I guess they won't need any H-1B visas this year or next year? @StephenM can you let us know if Microsoft is cancelling all of their H-1B visa applications?

Is there any audit professional who can defend this Loudoun County Public Schools policy enabling the board to remain ignorant of spending under $250,000?
Meanwhile the school board can be completely unaware of purchases under a quarter of a million dollars. But hey, at least the pronouns got fixed.

Imagine having a $2.6 billion school district budget, mounting financial pressures, staffing concerns, and legitimate questions about student safety and this is what the School Board is spending its time debating. The problem isn’t the pronouns. It’s the priorities. 🤔🤔🤔

And this my friends, is why parents no longer have any faith in public schools and I have to think the systems just keep reinforcing that distrust.
