Do you work for a Dutch university & have paid your union dues this year? Then make sure to vote on the CLA today before 16h. You should have gotten a link in your emails. – at Republic of Slovenia
What a great deal: write a blog on educational practices and get a promotion to assistant prof for free! Anyway, we are looking forward to connect with fellow lecturers @univgroningen who use specification grading in their teaching and assessment, feel free to reach out!
This month in our blog about educational #innovation: @TSarampalis & @LSKrook. They use specifications grading, a form of mastery-based grading focused on specific learning outcomes 👨🏫
'This approach allows for more flexibility and autonomy.' 👇

The UG is concerned about the proposal of Minister @RHDijkgraaf on internationalisation in higher education. These concerns are about the measures regarding the main language for the programmes and the impact they may have on teaching and research. rug.nl/news/2023/06/ug-conce…

It's been interesting for me, the lack of feedback on a platform like this is reminiscent of the early days of emergency remote teaching, where it felt like teaching into the void. You can follow me at @LSKrook if twitter hasn't finally succumbed.

So let me end this week here with a shout-out to the ongoing labor-agreement negotiations with @AObtweets, which is entering its sixth (!) round in order to make better agreements on the work pressure, rampant temp contracts and inflation compensation aob.nl/en/news/unions-are-in…

And part of the reason why the week flew by is that workload all across the board is too high. Weeks like these contain so many different tasks, meetings, questions, ideas, emails and pressure points that there is never a moment to give it the full attention it deserves 1/
This week flew by and unfortunately I did not find the time to share all the things I wanted to share here. But before it's time to log-out I wanted to address the value of having the combination of a teaching and a support role. For example, I hope that the @RecogRewards 1/

Speaking of the Research Methods course, while I was grading the resit assignments this week, I wanted to share the student-centered assessment approach, for which we were nominated as a best teaching and learning practice: youtu.be/R_Crk90v1-o

While I don't have small-group / skills teaching anymore, I still work at the Teaching Unit for "one day a week" (0.2FTE), where I coordinate the first-year intro to research methods course and teach the second-year course Research Methods: Theory & Ethics (w/ @TSarampalis) 5/
