“It turns out it was not a grizzly bear and she said, “You won the Nobel Prize!” Yesterday Fred Ramsdell was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine but, at the time, he and his wife were completely off-grid camping in Yellowstone National Park. Unsurprisingly when they finally returned to an area with phone service the messages poured in. Ramsdell talked to us on his way home from Yellowstone, sharing how a day that began with wildlife spotting can end up with the Nobel Prize. #NobelPrize

Excited to share our latest paper, published in Nature Communications! As first author from @3M_Lab, I’m proud of this collaborative effort with @LabMito and @rfleiro, where we dissect the autoregulatory mechanism of the mitochondrial helicase Twinkle. 🔗 nature.com/articles/s41467-0…

This is Dr. Douglas Wallace. A biologist who’s spent 45 years studying mitochondria. His message? Cancer, heart disease & even aging—aren’t random. They begin when your mitochondria fail to make enough energy. Here’s the energy story modern medicine missed: 🧵

FULL OF ENERGY Mitochondria (purple) create much of the chemical energy for the cell. And when compared to the slow moving nucleus (green), mitochondria seem hyperactive. Full of energy indeed. #MitoMonday #CellBiology
