Ocean levels at Los Angeles Harbor have reached an unprecedented 8.02 FEET, the highest recorded since measurements began in 1923, shattering more than a CENTURY of tidal history!
The extreme tides are also threatening Newport Beach, where a LOCAL EMERGENCY has been declared as seawater floods coastal streets. More than 25,000 sandbags and powerful pumps are being deployed as tides threaten to reach 8.5 FEET.
With coastal flood warnings extending through Thursday, homes, businesses and waterfront communities remain at risk as unusually high tides continue.

Water levels at Lake Worth Pier in Palm Beach today reached 2.70 feet above the average daily higher high tide (MHHW) today - topping NOAA’s listed record of 2.52 feet during Hurricane Nicole in 2022 by about 2 inches.
This is due to persistently strong east winds, big waves, a fall full moon causing astronomically high tides, and long-term sea level rise due to a warmer climate.
Records at this gauge date back to 1970. Today’s reading remains preliminary, pending NOAA verification. #Florida
