Despite its ability to run between Largs and Millport in 11 mins, a host of technical issues, financial problems and complaints of journeys being uncomfortable saw the service axed after just two years.

It will be wonderful to forge links and build relationships between our towns and in particular our students. Largs is dear to my heart and I am such an advocate for students learning about this man’s significant contribution despite never having visited the township.#DavidMuir

This was the only time Scotland wore the dark blue shirts with the rounded collar. If you look at the photo above you can see Jim Baxter's shirt is quite torn due to the poor material used. The strip does get more airing in a famous photo taken in Largs 1968.

If you are DrEAMing (Drop Everything and Move!) with us, then a walk along Largs promenade will blow the cobwebs away! See the war memorial, St Columba Church, Barrfields and learn the role of Largs during D-Day.

Did you know that Lady Devorgilla owned land here in Largs at Tourgill?
#OTD in 1298 Lord John Balliol died. His grieving wife, Lady Dervorguilla of Galloway, carried out many charitable acts in his memory. Perhaps the grandest was the founding of the Cistercian abbey of Dulce Cor - Latin for Sweetheart Abbey. ❤️ ow.ly/jJFR50wT2PG

Another great place to #DrEAM in #Largs is along the Bowan Walk towards the Pencil monument in memory of the Battle of Largs in 1263 between the Scots and the Vikings, ending the Norwegian claim over Scotland.
