$10.5 billion in pre-orders with $0 ad spend following the launch of the @Tesla #Cybertruck - not bad for some ‘shattered glass’ theatre to get journalists to extensively cover the new vehicle. Nice work @elonmusk 👍👏
Insightful day at #CommsCon19 with inspiring #storytelling & #CrisisComms campaigns. To recap:
1) Media relations is definitely not dying, just getting smarter.
2) Rules of engagement have changed - for #PRs, with journalists, on social etc.
3) Landing coverage is still exciting!
Clearly no love lost between publishers and social media networks in this debate. IMO, it’s a battle for consumer attention and what’s at stake is the delivery platform for serving consumers their news. #CommsCon19
Wide ranging panel discussing the state of media in 2020. Whether large or small, media outlets are facing the following same opportunities:
1. Diversity of journalism
2. Rise of data & how to use it
3. Growth of slow journalism - more podcasts, features etc.

Fascinating insight into crisis comms from @UK_CAA around operation Matterhorn to bring back 140k passengers following the collapse of Thomas Cook. In @rmgstephenson’s phrasing, here’s the short haul recap in 4 pics of the long haul operation. #CommsCon19
Great storytelling insight from @thameswater’s @whitevibes on the infamous London #Fatberg lurking in our sewers. From exclusively pitching to one media outlet to through to mass organic pick up. Spot on planning & artful execution. Bravo! 👏 #CommsCon19

Ha!! So true. Problem is we all need to start using the same tools to measure though 📏📏📏👀

Genuinely loving the tales of old school journalism from @fleetstreetfox this morning at #CommsCon19. As a #PR, these are the types of journalists you crave to take out for a drink or pitch a story to just to hear the witty put-downs 😘
Next up, trust in Earned media. All the polls & audits show consumers trust traditional earned media more than sponsored content. Consumers are savvier than before. #CommsCon19
Measurement has dominated the chat thus far. Data makes us smarter, let’s use it to refine our approach to better media relations. #CommsCon19
The big debate to kick off @CisionUK’s #CommsCon19 ‘Is Media Relations Dying?
Pick up any newspaper, check out a website, watch TV or listen to radio, it certainly isn’t dying in my view. It’s only got smarter.
