Here's how I had the breakdown for @Lions O play calling and personnel.
They broke the huddle 74 times for non kneel downs, intended play call charted.
Personnel
55 of 74 plays involved 2+ TEs (~74%).
2nd Half had 2+ on 28 of 33 play calls (~85%).
21p showed up 3x in the first half and scrapped for the second half.
The Lions 4th quarter only had one play with 1 TE - Jamo Touchdown.
Run:Pass balanced over the game with 38 runs called to 34 passes total with a run game takeover after halftime.
22R:10P in second half.
14R:3P in 4th quarter.
*2play calls uncharted due to penalties*
Do with this information what you will. Would love advice on what other info pairs well with these data sets that I could include. Please and thank you. #Onepride
Feels like the Lions had 12/13 personnel out on the field a lot more than normal and it's done nothing to slow down the sack party. Doesn't feel like it's helped in the run game either. Curious how much of it we will see in the second half.
Does anyone know a team that regularly uses an interior OL for the 6th OL personnel? I understand why teams would opt for Tackles, just hoping to find some film to analyze. Please and thank you. #NFL
While “Neato” is one of my higher compliments, this feels like quite the “Yikes”. Perhaps a big ”Oof” in the common tongue?
Statement from #LGRW which says they’re suspending Dylan Larkin without pay:
Will Reichard has only kicked 2 touchbacks this year. He’s fantastic at landing his normal kick around the 5, and has shown later game “Dirty Kicks” based off of other team lineups/return scheme. The chance for returns will be there, need to capitalize and not get caught under our own goalpost with the B Flo defense taking the field. @Vikings
I‘ve been vocal about the dumb “Flat9” kick returns the @Lions have been doing. Reviewed every kick with 9 defenders across the line, and compared it to the kicks with 1-2 guys 5 yards back.
*Taking penalties out* - there is a +5.5 yard difference in starting field position, and just over +6 yards more per return.
Here’s why it matters: The Jets were the first game to feature every kick with a man 5 yards off the line: Kick returns of 44 yards, 30 yards (w penalty), and 37 yards happened. Following that, NYJ intentionally kicked Endzone Touchbacks, giving the Lions ball out at the 35.
The Lions had 1 man off the line every kick for Green Bay but it was always Rock Ya Sin in the R3 position. Against the Jets, it had been Malcolm Rod, between the hashes, not out by the numbers. They showed it once versus Buffalo and had 2 defenders off between the hashes, not shown again.
The Flat9 appears to either ignore 1 outside defender with man blocking across the board, or they will ignore the outermost on each side, man block with a double team near the middle.
The 7/8 up appears to create a better angle/vision for the double team. Sees first guy of opposite jersey to leak through and cleans up. Both outside contain defenders appear ignored in 7/8 up.
Would love to see them move the off blocker back to the middle to create balance. GB kicked left on the final kickoff and it caused confusion/penalty. #OnePride

Looks like Fred Warner is pumping up the camera crew. Get them out of that huddle, nothing is sacred anymore.
Some takeaways from @Lions versus @AZCardinals:
Corner routes. Corner routes. Corner routes. Early in the first quarter Arizona saw a missed chance on an open corner, they went back to the exact same play twice that game, scoring each time. Corner routes were all over the film after that first series. With Green Bay up after the bye week, they need to learn how to cover them before the LaFleur brothers talk. This is the play below, but flipped from the 1Q.
RB pass pro looked good. Only asked to block on 7 of 33 pass attempts (Gibbs 2x, Vaki 5x), which included 2 TDs and a double pass. Gibbs stepped up against a couple free runners giving Goff the time needed, Vaki had no obvious errors.
Special Teams continues to run a flat 9 across the board, ignoring the outermost defender on each side to set up their returns. Other teams utilize multiple players back 5 yards. Lions are currently ranked 20th by average return yards, can’t imagine that would drop with better angles and lanes.
That's the drive you love to see. Let the OL take over, melt clock like Salvador Dali, and cap it off with 7. #onepride
Arizona definitely saw the wide open TE on a corner last drive. Targeted mcbride with a LB on him this time. Won't be surprised if they go back to that one. Not sure where safety help was.
Post film @Lions D Thoughts:
Carolina knew defensive rules and how to manipulate.
Lots of miscommunication, esp w/ motion.
S/CB blitzing from 8 yards deep is a waste of a player.
LBs covering grass, never identify threats, just eyes on Bryce.
CB PRESSED BUT ALWAYS BAILING WITHOUT GETTING HANDS ON. (Car knew this)
MOFO -> MOFC safeties creep early, not post snap when QB back turned.
Plays where safety help shades away from Tet McM??
Gap integrity is... questionable at times.
Also, why do we have a flat line Kick Return? Why not get better angles with guys 5 yards off?
What did you all notice? #OnePride
Fans of @DetroitRedWings and @tigers . I am guilty of it too, but lets get it right for the hashtag at least. One "L". #FireIlitch I-L-I-T-C-H.
Can we have a conversation about QB pressures? Sacks, FF, spikes into WR feet are clear ways these affect the game. Geno Smith only had 6 incompletions and *maybe* one was pressure forced? I get Detroit ranks high, but how important is the metric when most pressures don’t result in an objective stat? #OnePride
I never watched the tape, I'm sorry. Did yall take intermediate and deep shots with coach ?
@Utah_Football I can't figure where to direct my pain, thanks. #goblue
Is it fair to say no matter the outcome, the distance of these passes, with the inaccurate placement= underwood not super great of a thrower ? Every attempt is short or not open deep (haven't watched routes yet *) #hail but darn. @UMichFootball
