⁦@edfringe⁩ despite Fringe promises that they’d replace these bins with ones with a hatch as in previous years they haven’t done it. Virtually zero recycling as many of the visitors don’t have English as first language no international recycling ♻️ symbols.

Simple zebra crossings are an easy and low-cost means of giving pedestrians priority. @Sustrans latest report backs their wider use 👇 sustrans.org.uk/our-blog/new… We now need UK Gov to give councils the power to make them commonplace.
Disabled people are more likely to be injured by cars when we're walking or wheeling. Our new research with @Sustrans shows that adding zebra crossings to side streets makes drivers more like to stop for us. Read more: transportforall.org.uk/news/…

SUVs are clogging our cities, wasting fuel, and putting lives at risk. We need higher taxes and charges to be levied on these oversized cars if we want to create a safer, cleaner future. It's time to take action. gbnews.com/lifestyle/cars/su…

SUVs are the second-largest cause of the global rise in emissions over the past decade – more than the entire aviation industry. Great campaign from @cities_clean highlighting the many dangers of the growing appetite for bigger cars 👇
On average, SUVs burn 20% more fuel than regular cars. They're not just eating up space - they're eating up our planet too. It's time to think smarter, and smaller. Join us in tackling #carspreading and tag us in your worst SUV moments. More info at cleancitiescampaign.org/cars…

This Guardian article on brake pad dust misses some fairly important context EVs use friction brakes far less than internal combustion engine (ICE) cars, because of the magic of regenerative braking Meaning they produce less of this toxic dust A 🧵 theguardian.com/environment/…

The Scottish Government aims to reduce car kilometres by 20% by 2030. This is part of its efforts to cut greenhouse gas emissions. But car traffic has increased since 2020. And @scotgov has no delivery plan and is now unlikely to hit its target. More: bit.ly/Sustainable_Transport…

New analysis: If four UK airport expansions including Heathrow are allowed to go ahead, they will cancel out the carbon savings of this government’s clean power plan IN JUST FIVE YEARS. This government must cancel these planned expansions.
