Haven’t bet or watched in years despite it being a family tradition. If these people love horses so much why are they happy to put them at risk? I’m on the side of the protesters on this one.

Discovered my family grew up a few doors down from this house. It’s not the exact one, but it’s one of the very few remaining traces of how they would have lived, since much of south London was bombed then redeveloped. Lovely.

Refilled the neglected bird feeders yesterday. This morning? The fearless garden robin and an already-chubby woodpigeon. Others will come, slowly slowly… I can see little movements darting in the trees, interested.

GREENOUT is the feeling of gladness or relief that a person who has endured the winter experiences on seeing something fresh and green for the first time. The word was first used among polar research scientists on returning home after several months in the Antarctic.
I adore watching the murmurations down in Brighton. A cold crisp day and a gorgeous sunset, it’s a fabulous sight. Haven’t made it down there at the right time for years, must try harder.
