The @ACA_Kenya has today destroyed counterfeit goods valued at over KSh 200M in a major enforcement exercise held in Athi River as part of its ongoing efforts to protect consumers, support legitimate businesses, and preserve the integrity of Kenya’s marketplace. The goods had been seized through enforcement operations conducted across Nairobi, Eastern and Nyeri regions, including key entry points such as JKIA and the Inland Container Depot, and had undergone all the necessary legal and administrative processes before destruction.
The destroyed goods covered a wide range of categories, highlighting the scale and diversity of counterfeit trade in the country. These included apparel and footwear, machinery and spare parts, electronics and phone accessories, stationery, alcohol and beverages, agro-chemicals, petroleum products, foodstuffs, hardware materials, and other household and consumer goods. Among the highest-value categories were apparel , machinery and spare parts, electronics and stationery.
Speaking during the exercise, @ACA_Kenya Executive Director Dr. @mbugua_njoroge said the destruction was a strong demonstration of the Authority’s commitment to enforcing the law and ensuring counterfeit goods are permanently removed from circulation. He warned that counterfeit products are not only an economic threat but also a serious danger to public health and safety, noting that fake automotive parts, alcohol, cosmetics, electrical products and food items can have devastating consequences for unsuspecting consumers.
The Authority emphasized that destruction remains a critical enforcement measure because once goods have been seized and all legal procedures finalized, they must be completely eliminated to prevent them from re-entering the market. @ACA_Kenya also acknowledged the support of partner agencies including @KRACare , @KEBS_ke , @DCI_Kenya , @PoliceKE , @KephisKe , @ppbkenya , and local administration, as well as the contribution of Intellectual Property Rights owners and brand representatives, whose collaboration is key in identifying and reporting counterfeit goods.
ACA further urged consumers to remain vigilant by buying from reputable sources, checking packaging, labelling and authenticity features, and reporting any suspected counterfeit products. The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying enforcement operations and strengthening collaboration with stakeholders in the fight against counterfeit trade. @MITIKenya @IndustryKE @citizentvkenya @tv47news @KTNNewsKE @Kenyans

The Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry hosted the Kenya Business Forum at the Hilton The Hague on 22nd April 2026, bringing together stakeholders to advance Kenya–Netherlands trade, investment, and sectoral partnerships.

We held the Kenya–Netherlands Business Forum at The Hague, a key platform to deepen trade, unlock investment, and expand opportunities between our two countries.
Kenya remains a leading exporter of horticulture to the European market, with the Netherlands serving as a strategic gateway. This partnership continues to anchor our access to global markets.
We are encouraged by the strong upward trajectory of our trade. Kenya’s exports to the Netherlands reached USD 540 million in 2024, reflecting growing demand and confidence in our products.
Fresh cut flowers and buds alone accounted for over USD 290 million, reaffirming Kenya’s position as a global leader in high-quality horticultural exports.
Importantly, Kenya continues to enjoy a trade surplus with the Netherlands. Imports stood at USD 347 million in 2024, resulting in a surplus of USD 193 million in Kenya’s favour.
Beyond horticulture, we are actively exploring opportunities in tourism, avocado, tea, and coffee. These sectors hold immense potential to generate foreign exchange, diversify our export basket, and create meaningful jobs for our youth.
As we look ahead, Kenya is focused on expanding its export footprint while driving efficiencies in logistics to make our products more competitive. With rising oil costs and ongoing disruptions in air travel, building resilient and cost-effective supply chains is urgent.
