Farm dams are essential for our community, environment, and safety.
• Dams protect livestock by ensuring a reliable water supply.
• Dams provide a vital water source for native wildlife.
• Dams assist in protecting our homes, sheds, and properties from bushfires.
Next week, I will be moving a motion in Parliament highlighting the critical importance of water storage and dam capacity for our South Aussie farmers.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to meet with 𝗥𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗛𝗼𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿, 𝗖𝗘𝗢 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 & 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗦𝗔, to discuss the invaluable work being done to support foster and kinship carers across South Australia.
Over the years, I have raised concerns in Parliament about the need for greater support for foster and kinship carers, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝗳𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁 as they step up to provide safe, loving, and stable homes for vulnerable children.
Foster and kinship carers are among the most dedicated and compassionate people in our community. They open their homes and hearts to children in need, often making significant personal sacrifices to provide stability, care, and opportunity.
I look forward to working with Russell and his team to explore ways we can better support and empower foster and kinship carers, while ensuring the children and young people in their care have every opportunity to thrive.

No South Australian should have to travel 600-800km for essential healthcare.
Today, I questioned the Government about the lack of specialist healthcare services on the Eyre Peninsula and what is being done to reduce the burden on regional patients and their families.
Regional communities deserve better access to healthcare, closer to home.

Today I had the privilege of moving a motion in Parliament recognising 𝗗𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘀 𝗢𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗵𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗢𝗔𝗠 for his extraordinary service to veterans, mental health awareness and the wider community.
After serving 20 years in the Australian Defence Force, including active service in Iraq, Dennis turned his own mental health struggles into a mission to help others.
His vision led to the creation of the 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗔𝗡𝗭𝗔𝗖 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘀 , a peaceful space built by veterans, for veterans, honouring more than 700 local men and women who have served our nation. Having recently visited the gardens, I was struck by their beauty, serenity and the powerful stories of service they preserve.
Thank you, Dennis, for your service, leadership and unwavering commitment to helping others. South Australia is better because of people like you. 💙

Regional mothers should not have to travel hundreds of kilometres just to give birth.
Caught up with John Dawkins and the CEO of Roxby Downs Mick Nelson to discuss important regional issues, including the work of Mind Over Masculinity in supporting men's mental health.
We also discussed the lack of birthing facilities at the local hospital, with expectant mothers having to travel to Adelaide and sometimes stay in Airbnb accommodation for up to six weeks, away from their partners and support networks, often facing emotional and financial hardship.

Our veterans deserve more than gratitude, they deserve genuine support, connection and care.
Today, we hosted a Veterans Forum, bringing together community advocates and representatives to discuss veterans’ wellbeing, particularly mental health and the importance of community support.
We appreciated the attendance of both the Minister and Shadow Minister, but the real highlight was hearing from those making a difference on the ground.
A special thank you to Dennis Oldenhove from the Macclesfield RSL, who shared the inspiring story behind the ANZAC Memorial Garden and the important work being done to support veterans’ mental health, connection and wellbeing.
We also heard from Lidia Faranda Hall from Resolute Ready, who spoke about their work supporting veterans and building resilience.
Our veterans have served our country. Ensuring they are supported long after their service ends must remain a priority.
Because supporting our veterans isnt just about remembering their service, its about standing beside them today.

When children's health is at stake, we need answers, not silence!
The 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 (𝗖𝗔𝗦𝗖) Summit in Adelaide raised some deeply concerning questions about gender medicine and the treatment of vulnerable children.
𝗗𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮 𝗢'𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘆 delivered a powerful presentation titled “𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻”, questioning the evidence behind medical transition pathways.
Even more alarming were 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 and Welfare figures showing 𝟳𝟯 𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯–𝟮𝟰, compared with just 𝟴 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟱–𝟭𝟲. These figures raise serious questions about the accuracy and interpretation of biological sex data in our health system.
𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗮𝘄 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗻 also raised concerns about children receiving treatment without the necessary parental consent and the potential legal consequences.
It was also wonderful to connect with 𝗥𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗲𝗹 𝗪𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻'𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘆𝗸𝗮 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗔 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁.
This is exactly why I have called for a Parliamentary Inquiry into gender dysphoria services in South Australia.
We need transparency, parental involvement, medical accountability and proper scrutiny of the evidence guiding treatment decisions.
Our children deserve better than unanswered questions. They deserve protection, transparency and the highest standards of care.

💵 Cash still matters and Australians should always have the choice to use it.
We are rapidly moving towards a digital economy, but recent cyberattacks, technology outages and increasingly sophisticated AI-enabled scams remind us that digital systems are not infallible.
At the same time, accessing physical cash is becoming more difficult. Customers wanting to withdraw $5,000 or more may need to order the cash in advance and can face numerous questions about why they want to withdraw their own money. Banks do have obligations to monitor transactions and make inquiries in certain circumstances, but legitimate customers should not be made to feel they are doing something wrong simply by accessing cash.
Under the Australian Government’s Cheques Transition Plan, cheques will stop being issued by 30 June 2028 and stop being accepted on 30 September 2029, effectively closing Australia’s cheque system.
In 2024, I introduced the Public Finance and Audit (Cash Payments) Amendment Bill because cash must remain a genuine and accessible payment option.
This isn’t about resisting technology. It’s about choice, privacy and resilience.
Your money should remain accessible to you and cash must remain part of our society. – at Adelaide, South Australia
Thank you to @DavidMaywald for presenting me with a copy of his book, 100 of the Best Books for Men.
The book brings together 100 influential works exploring what it means to be a man from purpose and responsibility to resilience, leadership, relationships and service.
At a time when many men and boys are facing challenges with wellbeing, connection and a sense of purpose, it is important that we continue encouraging positive conversations and strong role models.
I’m looking forward to hearing from David at our International Men’s Day Dinner in November, where we will celebrate the contribution of men and raise funds to support men’s wellbeing across South Australia.
Thank you, David, for your contribution to this important conversation.

If our teachers are expected to teach literacy, should they be able to demonstrate it themselves?
New national LANTITE figures show around one in eight prospective teachers failed the literacy test on their first attempt in 2025.
Some candidates nationally required multiple attempts, with 1,404 sitting the literacy test four or more times.
I asked the Government for the South Australian figures , including how many teaching students required multiple attempts and what is being done to address literacy and numeracy gaps before graduates enter our classrooms.
