🔥 NEW: Aave Labs has acquired the team and technology behind Avon, one of the leading fixed-rate lending teams onchain.
The deal brings fixed-rate lending to Aave, which holds more than $33B in deposits.
Could fixed rates bring more institutions to DeFi?

JUST IN: Aave DAO Snapshot for '[ARFC] Onboard Native BTC as Collateral to Aave V4 via Babylon Trustless Bitcoin Vaults' is live.
Onboard native Bitcoin ($BTC) as collateral on the Aave V4 using Babylon Trustless Bitcoin Vaults (TBV).
Snapshot: snapshot.box/#/s:aavedao.eth…
Big milestone: @aave has acquired Avon’s technology and our team is joining Aave.
I started @avon_xyz to rethink how credit is priced and how liquidity and risk are managed, with the aim of bringing the depth of global credit markets onchain.
Together with Aave, we can take this further.
Huge thanks to @serayush, @cryptographicas, @saurabh_evm, and @mihir_1101. None of this happens without you.
And thanks to everyone who backed us early, especially @robotventures, @FigmentCapital, and our angels.
DeFi will win.
The team (and the tech) just got bigger!
Aave Labs has acquired the team and technology behind @avon_xyz, one of the leading companies working on fixed-rate lending onchain.
The Avon team brings deep protocol engineering and market-structure expertise to Aave Labs as it expands onchain lending for a mainstream audience.

Immutability is not decentralization. Lending protocols governed by public, timelocked votes should get the same securities law treatment as a protocol immutable at deployment. Otherwise the securities law picks winners and losers because of design and leaves users stuck in code that can't protect them in a crisis.

A big proposal for Aave goes live for voting tomorrow:
Aave V4 could become the first major lending protocol to accept native Bitcoin as collateral.
Very much looking forward to being able to borrow USDC against native BTC in DeFi.
AAVE SETS VOTE ON STABLECOIN LOANS AGAINST NATIVE BTC
@aave’s V4 proposal uses Babylon vaults to keep BTC on Bitcoin. Voting starts Nov. 6; market activation would need a separate onchain vote.

Sentora has started allocating capital to its @aave V4 instance.
So far ~$94M is deposited and ~$36M borrowed, almost all through the @Ripple RLUSD Yield spoke.
@SentoraHQ curates ~$2.8B, with ~$940M in smart vaults that can potentially move to Aave.
For now, the Sentora USD smart vault has allocated ~38% of $127M book to Aave v4.
The Advanced Strategies BTC and USDC smart vaults, curated by Sentora that provide yield to @krakenfx Earn and hold ~$740M in deposits, haven't allocated yet.
Sentora just went live on @aave V4 with the first externally curated Hub & Spoke instance.
One of the largest curators in DeFi, with ~$2.6B in curated vault TVL, is starting to consolidate under a single Aave Hub.
The deployment is one Liquidity Hub on Ethereum feeding three Spokes:
- @Ripple RLUSD Yield spoke takes PRIME, mWIN, PST or USDe as collateral to borrow RLUSD.
- @openstandard OUSD Yield spoke uses the same collateral to borrow OUSD.
- The Bluechip spoke takes kBTC as collateral to borrow OUSD, PYUSD or RLUSD.
@SentoraHQ Advanced Strategies BTC and USDC vaults, which integrate with @krakenfx Earn and borrow products and generate yield through kBTC loans and leveraged PYUSD/RLUSD lending against PRIME, PST and sUSDe, should allocate to the Spokes.
Aave V4’s Hub & Spoke architecture lets a curator unify liquidity across multiple markets while keeping full risk authority. Sentora shares 50% of instance revenue with the Aave DAO.
The future of finance is taking shape, and we’re excited to be part of it.
An investment fund affiliated with Payward and its clients has purchased AAVE tokens, the native token of the Aave network.
We’re also exploring opportunities to work with @Aave on future initiatives.

Payward (Kraken) has purchased $AAVE tokens on the secondary market as part of our partnership to bring onchain lending to a broader audience.
This highlights the singular focus on the $AAVE token formalized under the Aave Will Win Framework.
Today @Payward, the unified financial infrastructure platform that powers @krakenfx, announced that Digital Asset Special Investments I, LP, a Payward-affiliated investment fund, and its clients acquired AAVE tokens.
The AAVE tokens were acquired through secondary market purchases, and Payward may make additional acquisitions in the future. Payward and Aave are also exploring opportunities to collaborate on future initiatives.
As traditional and onchain markets converge, Payward believes DeFi is an integral part of the global financial system, with Aave playing a leading role in this evolution.

Proud to partner with @aave and @veda_labs on our submission to the SEC. The framework applies existing securities law to decentralized lending and non-custodial vaults based on the fundamental questions: who holds the assets, who owes the obligations, and who bears the risk.
Those are the exact questions every institution asks before deploying capital. Answering them clearly is how we bring onchain credit and liquidity to banks, brokerages, fintech and wallets.
Very proud of our team at @kamino who spearheaded this effort alongside their counterparts at Veda and Aave. Great job!
The Kamino Foundation, @veda_labs, and @aave have submitted a new joint framework to the SEC on how U.S. federal securities laws apply to decentralized lending protocols and non-custodial vaults.
The framework holds that regulatory treatment should track what users own, the rights they can exercise, and the authority others hold over their assets.
Payward 🤝Aave.
If this doesn't make you bullish I do not know what will.

Securities law regulates promises. A lending protocol has no issuer, no lender, no promise. And community governance is a feature, not a liability: setting public, time-locked market rules is administering a market. Released paper with @veda_labs and @kamino .

Is Morpho trying to kill DeFi?
@aave and @Morpho both sent the SEC a legal framework for DeFi lending, one defends DeFi, the other negotiates it away
When you deposit into a lending market or a vault, did you just buy a security? If yes, someone has to register, disclose and answer to the SEC. If no, DeFi keeps running as it is.
The SEC mainly uses two tests:
1- Howey: did you put money into a shared venture and expect profit from someone else's work?
2- Reves: is your position really an IOU, a note someone promised to repay?
Aave's approach (Aave Labs, @kamino , @veda_labs ) On Howey, there is no shared venture. Suppliers use the same pool and rate, but nobody's profit depends on anyone else. DAO votes with timelocks run a market. They don't manage your money
On Reves, the test never starts, as there is no lender, no borrower duty and no promise to repay, so no IOU exists. Vault curators may count as investment advisers, yet they can't touch your funds
That means no custody and no fund. What it wants from the SEC: confirm existing law. No exemption needed
Morpho's approach (CCI Vault Coalition: Morpho, Bitwise, Galaxy) Control is the yardstick. The less any person can change after you deposit, the further you sit from securities law. Ten conditions define the safe zone, including locked or timelocked parameters and no moving funds between markets after deposit
Howey gets fought mostly on "someone else's work." The paper concedes a vault may already count as a shared venture
Lending positions are treated as notes under Reves, and selling them to retail likely leans "security," it admits.
Its request: exemptive relief, a compliance entity wherever someone holds control, and a private fund lane for vetted investors.
So what's best for DeFi?
Morpho's map is detailed and candid about hard cases, which regulators appreciate. The cost is ground given up before the fight begins. Every concession becomes the SEC's starting point, and the safe zone rewards frozen code over protocols that keep evolving. Aave keeps the default where DeFi needs it. Open markets aren't securities, governance can keep improving the protocol, and no company has to stand in front of it.
Adopt Aave's reading and DeFi stays permissionless, but under Morpho's, DeFi runs on a license
curious to hear what @ImmutableLawyer @spynter @lex_node would think about this
