People are dying due to human-induced climate change - How many need to die until we stop burning fossil fuels?
A study in @NatureMedicine estimates there were over 61,000 heat-related deaths across Europe as a result of the summer heat waves of 2022. The findings show that Italy, Spain and Germany were among those that had the largest number of deaths. go.nature.com/44CtZmh

The week 3/4 ECMWF and CFSv2 are having quite a stand-off on the eastward progress of Pacific convection in late July.
The ECMWF clearly puts an end to the recent pause in El Niño strengthening, CFSv2 keeps it on hold.
GEFS splits the difference but is adjusting towards ECMWF.

Warmest June on record globally, and in the oceans, since thermometer-based analysis began (1850).
Nominally 2nd warmest June on land, but tied for first within the uncertainty.
Likely that 2023 becomes a record warm year.
