Thanks to the Welsh politicians who are supporting the 500,000 children who can't reliably detect speeds above 20mph, the 600,000 with concessionary travel passes, and the 300,000 households with no car. Thanks to Welsh drivers by delivering safer streets and mobility for all.

Given that scientists who study 100% renewable energy systems are unanimous that it can be done, why do we hear daily on twitter and everywhere else by those who don't study such systems that it can't be done?
Although 100s more exist, here are 89 papers by 37 groups & >210 authors finding 100% renewable grids feasible worldwide without fossils, nuclear, CCUSP, blue H2 web.stanford.edu/group/efmh/… @ChristianOnRE @BrianVad @ProfStrachan @AukeHoekstra @ChristineMilne @howarth_cornell

Determined Ripon mother writes about cycling her children to Primary School on a busy, narrow, dangerous village road which @northyorksc has refused to make 20mph. It’s just had a segregated cycle lane - but only for 2 days of roadworks. harrogatecycleaction.org.uk/…

In an LTN how is my freedom of movement curtailed when I’m walking? It isn’t. Is my freedom of movement in an LTN curtailed when I’m on my bike, then? It is not. So my freedom of movement is only curtailed when I drive? Not that either. I can still access every property. – at Byker, England

By staying in the secretive Energy Charter Treaty, the UK Government is choosing to protect polluters over the planet. Sign the petition now and demand we leave the treaty before there’s no planet left to protect

What would the comparable figures be for @northyorksc?
In England local authorities of all colours have set 20mph limits for most urban/village roads for 20 million people. Wales is doing it the sensible way for its 3.1 million people with a 20mph default. Other countries are setting 20mph/30kmh as an urban/village norm

Tell Government to invest in cycling, not more motorways, to reach net zero. Let's rebalance our transport system so that people have safe and accessible sustainable transport options like cycling, walking, and public transport. action.cyclinguk.org/page/13…

Just back from London. Default 20mph throughout much of the City. Traffic significantly slower. It works. It’s accepted. It’s become normal. What’s the problem? @20sPlentyNYorks

Can someone tell me that @GeorgeMonbiot is wrong? I hope so.
It's a new and deadly strategy for shutting down protest. Corporations have realised that any political opponent can be named on an injunction. Once you're named, you can become liable for its costs. So they can beggar you for disagreeing with them. theguardian.com/commentisfre…

Good to hear @gilespcroft But it’s not a ‘blanket’ limit, it’s a default limit which is not the same thing. 20mph is now the norm for you, but where appropriate some roads are 30mph or more, and some may be 15mph or less.
It's been piloted here and I must say, I rather enjoy pootling around town at 20mph. The fact it's a blanket speed limit means you don't have to think, just set the dial to 20 and enjoy the ride. Makes crossing roads with kids easier too (if drivers are observing it).
