No surprise. Common sense and football don’t go hand in hand.
It will be fun to watch on a weekly basis the countless examples of far worse incidents going completely unpunished.
Hopefully a valuable learning experience for Dowman though. Can’t afford to get sucked in to incidents like this.
Regulation & Discipline update on @Arsenal:

ALT An independent Regulatory Commission has dismissed claims of both wrongful dismissal and excessive punishment for Max Dowman. The Arsenal player was sent off during their EFL Cup game against Fleetwood Town on Tuesday 27 October and will be suspended for three matches. The Regulatory Commission’s written reasons for its decisions will be published in due course.

I do find it a bit strange that certain people are celebrating a challenge like this on a kid
“Welcome to proper football” etc
Whilst pearl clutching about Dowman’s reaction, a little nudge with his knee
The game is either soft or it’s not, can’t have it both ways

Basically every single professional in the game talks about Arteta like this
Then you have the contrast with the [insert pejorative] online

Hands up. I was wrong.
This reaction from Max was NOT violent conduct. From the other 2 angles, at full pace, it looked a lot worse than it was - a kick in anger and a stamp on him. This angle, no chance. He’s kicking his leg off with insufficient force to be violent.
Reviewing the Max Dowman Red card this morning on @SkySportsNews
No chance a red card and “Violent Conduct”. Watch the incident up close you can see how minimal the movement of his foot is. A reaction yes, but no chance a violent one.
Arsenal now will have a full week of rest:
- before Man Utd (h),
- before Hull City (a),
- in the week between Man City (a) and Liverpool (h)
- And will not need to potentially re-schedule a home tie with Sunderland (who could be in Europa action)
20-30 rest days. Added.

Joao Pedro is a sell then! #FPL
