This New York Times piece about Arab citizens turning up to vote, and voting in record number, in Israeli elections is a tremendous counternarrative to what is sometimes reported. Free elections and smooth transition of power are the hallmark of democracy.

With the small-market World Series:
What likely stays the same: Manfred, Levine and the hard-bargaining machine push hard for salary cap, declare impasse, and cancel games to try to break players.
What changes: Less fan tolerance for their messaging.

As a #CUNY professor, one thing I think we all need to work with students on is how to look someone older in the eye, say hello, and make friendly small talk. This was a skill I was lacking as a young adult and one that puts public school kids at a disadvantage in the job market.
The way pro-#PCSA people with power contort themselves to avoid addressing *substance* of the opposition tells us as much, if not more, than anything this sports and antitrust law professor could ever say. Save this one for the files. Some history Ph.D student in 2056 may benefit
Thank you to Paul Catalina and @365sportsYT for giving me the opportunity to lay out these important issues
Enjoy half an hour with me, discussing the #PCSA, why some college athletes constitute employees, and, implicitly, why so much of what President Trump’s “friend” Randy Levine says about a college sports #antitrust exemption is either incomplete or wrong. youtu.be/Gs3FILvcQqs

I have no idea if #MLB labor strategy when the CBA expires is to make offers the players union cannot accept, force an impasse, and implement terms unilaterally. I do know Randy Levine cites more to the law on this issue than the pertinent law when discussing college sports. 🤔
New episode of @SportsLawPod: Randy Levine, President of the @Yankees and co-chair of President Trump’s Council on College Sports, joins to discuss his role in the Protect College Sports Act, the future of college sports, the debate over collective bargaining, and why he believes this may be Congress’s last and best chance to fix college athletics.

Social Democrats of NYC: Proudly announced last week a new, $500,000 food pantry for people’s pets.
My reality: There are students I teach in the CUNY system who come to school hungry, and there are not enough healthy, affordable food options on campus.
If you support the so-called Protect College Sports Act and consider yourself to be intellectually honest, please read my interview below, and test your own beliefs. (Very strong recommend for @SenatorCantwell, who I hope might flip back).

Earlier this week, the brilliant Tom Ley of the Defector gave me an opportunity to lay out the case against the so-called “Protect College Sports Act.” I hope you read and perhaps look at the #PCSA a little bit differently from before: defector.com/an-antitrust-ex…
Because I want everybody to listen to Gabe’s interview with Randy Levine, I thought I’d invite you to play a game. Mr. Levine makes what I believe are three very clear misstatements of law in his approximately 15 minutes of speaking. Listen, and see how many you can pick out.

I spent today hiking with my wife. It was a beautiful day, and we had a wonderful time. On Monday, I will have more to say about Randy Levine, his interview with Gabe Feldman, and the anti-college athlete rights movements But, for now, join me in enjoying nature’s pure beauty.
The entire Randy Levine interview, which Gabe conducts professionally, to me portrays a man who tells us that he’s the expert, the law is what he says it is, and college athletes are getting a good deal. It’s a man who does not show his work and can’t rebut opposing conclusions.
Everybody should listen to this podcast episode, and pay attention to Randy Levine’s tone and demeanor around the 14 minute mark when Gabe asks Randy why college athletes don’t have more voice. This is the tell of a man who didn’t want that question and couldn’t handle it.
