Verdaderos patriotas que aman profundamente a Estados Unidos y están comprometidos con la causa de la libertad en Cuba y en todo nuestro hemisferio. Su compromiso con la defensa de la democracia y la lucha contra las dictaduras es un ejemplo para todos.

Me siento profundamente honrado al recibir el Premio de Campeón de la Libertad y la Democracia 2026 del National Endowment for Democracy en la histórica Torre de la Libertad en Miami. Como hijo de exiliados cubanos, recibir este reconocimiento en un lugar emblemático que acogió a tantas familias que huían de la tiranía comunista, tieneun especial significado. Es un recordatorio de la promesa de Estados Unidos y de nuestra responsabilidad de seguir siendo un faro de libertad. En mis años de servicio en el Congreso trabajé  para garantizar que quienes luchan por la libertad cuenten con un firme aliado en Estados Unidos. Ese compromiso es ahoraespecialmente urgente en nuestro propio hemisferio donde generaciones de cubanos, venezolanos y nicaragüenses han demostrado una enorme valentía y una resiliencia extraordinaria frente a décadas de represión autoritaria. Como presidente del Subcomité de Asignaciones de la Cámara de Representantes para Seguridad Nacional, el Departamento de Estado y Programas Relacionados, mi prioridad constante a sido la seguridad nacional de Estados Unidos y proteger el dinero de los contribuyentes a tiempo de promover la libertad de expresión, la independencia de la prensa y los valores democráticos en todo el mundo. Mi objetivo es que estas libertades fortalezcan nuestros intereses, consoliden nuestras alianzas y contrarresten a los regímenes autoritarios que buscan socavar estas libertades. Expreso mi profundo agradecimiento al National Endowment for Democracy por otorgarme este reconocimiento y por su labor por más de cuatro décadas de apoyo a quienes enfrentan la represión en todo el mundo. Reitero que mantengo mi compromiso de garantizar que sus voces sean escuchadas, que sus sacrificios sean recordados y que su lucha por la libertad siga siendo una prioridad en la política exterior estadounidense.

I am deeply honored to receive the National Endowment for Democracy’s 2026 Campion of Freedom Democracy Award at Miami’s historic Freedom Tower. As the son of Cuban exiles, receiving this recognition at a landmark that welcomed so many families fleeing communist tyranny carries special meaning. It is a reminder of America’s promise and our responsibility to stand as a beacon of freedom. Throughout my service in Congress, I have worked to ensure that those fighting for liberty have a steadfast ally in the United States. That commitment is especially urgent in our own hemisphere, where generations of Cubans, Venezuelans, and Nicaraguans have demonstrated remarkable courage and resilience in the face of decades of authoritarian repression. As Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs, I have consistently prioritized efforts that put America’s national security first and protect taxpayer dollars, while promoting freedom of speech, independence of the press, and democratic values worldwide. Advancing these freedoms supports our interests, strengthen our allies, and counters the regimes that seek to undermine us. I thank the National Endowment for Democracy for this recognition and for more than four decades of supporting those confronting repression around the world. I remain committed to ensuring that their voices are heard, their sacrifices are remembered, and their struggle for freedom remains a priority of American foreign policy.

Fue un placer compartir con nuestra comunidad y apoyar los esfuerzos para garantizar que los residentes tengan acceso a los beneficios fiscales que se merecen!

I was honored to attend the @PAofMiamiDade outreach event in Hialeah, helping residents navigate homestead, senior, and disability exemptions. It was a pleasure to connect with our community and support efforts to ensure residents have access to the tax benefits they deserve!

Today’s “Cuba Libre” event puts the spotlight where it belongs: political prisoners, trafficked medical professionals, and a corrupt regime that enriches itself while crushing its people. Courageous Cubans like Jose Daniel Ferrer and Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara, freed after years of unjust imprisonment, embody the freedom this dictatorship fears. The world must stand with the Cuban people and demand the unconditional release of every political prisoner. ¡Patria y Vida!

Durante décadas Raúl Castro evadió la justicia por el asesinato a sangre fría de tres ciudadanos estadounidenses y un residente permanente que eran voluntarios con Hermanos al Rescate, una organización humanitaria dedicada a salvar las vidas de cubanos que huían de su brutal dictadura. Felicito al fiscal general de Florida @AGJamesUthmeier por sus esfuerzos para obtener esta orden de arresto. Los matones asesinos de La Habana deben responder por sus crímenes. Sus días están contados y la era de la impunidad debe finalizar de una vez por todas!

For decades, Raúl Castro has evaded justice for the cold-blooded murder of three Americans and one permanent resident volunteering with Brothers to the Rescue, a humanitarian organization dedicated to saving the lives of Cuban refugees fleeing his brutal dictatorship. I commend @AGJamesUthmeier for his efforts to secure this arrest warrant. The murderous thugs in Havana must answer for their crimes. Their days are numbered and the era of impunity must end!
