Dunno if it’s just me but with all these mostly very old men in charge bombing each others’ civilians in many corners of the earth I’m starting to wonder if we should let women have a go running things.
Would there be quite as much carnage? Frankly I doubt it.

“The only thing that matters with feedback is the reaction of the recipient. That’s it. Feedback —no matter how well designed— that the student does not act upon is a waste of time." Dylan Wiliam (2017)
Students often need prompts, reminders & guidance to reflect & respond to the feedback they receive. This Feedback book mark is one example, it can be adapted for different subjects, ages & key stages.

Gary Lineker has had an extraordinary career on and off the pitch. A brilliant sportsman, an outstanding broadcaster and a wonderful human being.
For millions of people, @GaryLineker is the face of Match of the Day, but for millions more he is also the face of humility, warmth and decency.
He had the courage to defend the humanity of refugees and to speak out against the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza. That should be recognised, remembered and celebrated.
Gary will be a huge loss to the BBC, but we will never forget the compassion he has shown for others.
Thank you Gary.

Really helpful analysis of the 2025 SATs Reading paper from EdShed. Inference making dominates the marks scheme once more, whilst slightly shorter texts made the extracts more readable than recent years:

This year as a Head I’ve reflected on the noise coming from all avenues for schools and teachers on pedagogy, behaviour, routines, curriculum, research and so on…
I think a key aspect of being a Headteacher is to filter out the noise and focus on what matters most for your school at that moment in time.
External training can be great but it can also dilute the messages and the culture that leaders are establishing in their schools.
It’s important we ensure that staff receive the right messages at the right time to avoid doing lots of things that lead to minimal impact but drain valuable time.

It’s about occupation- that must end
