Mr. Ambassador, the Arabs who vote are Israelis...
Nothing says 'discreet' as much as a notorious spy agency like the CIA using a social media platform to publicly ask civilians to betray their own country in the interests of the United States. LMAO

Lord Walney, who called us weird for covering Palestine, is back.
This time, he’s taken the lead in organising a letter signed by fifty British peers to ban pro-Palestine artist Macklemore from performing in the UK.
Walney, also known as John Woodcock, is an ex-chair of Labour Friends of Israel who has now called on Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood to revoke Macklemore’s electronic travel authorisation on the basis that proceeds from the tour will be donated to the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM). The letter accuses the anti-genocide group of having a ‘record of glorifying terrorism and intimidating elected representatives’, which PYM denies.
Macklemore announced his now sold-out ‘Free Palestine Tour’ shortly after he was dropped as a support act on Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour last month.

The BBC’s Middle East correspondent frames the Israeli elections as Netanyahu against “leftist” and “centrist” figures like Eisenkot, whom she describes as “softly spoken” and “lowkey”.
What she leaves out is that he’s a former general and the architect of the Dahiyeh Doctrine, which calls for disproportionate force and deliberate targeting of civilians and their infrastructure.
In what world is that left wing?

The @BBCNews correspondent describes Netanyahu as 'slick, experienced, media-savvy'.
How about: 'subject to an ICC arrest warrant for war crimes in Gaza'?
BBC 'News' = propaganda by omission.

Maduro wasn't "deposed" he was kidnapped.
To say otherwise is misleading @Channel4News
Venezuela's opposition leader, Maria Corina Machado, has returned home after almost a year in exile.
The Nobel peace prize winner has not been seen in the country since deposed president Nicolas Maduro was captured by the US military in January and held in New York on charges including Narco-terrorism.
Machado was barred from running for president against Maduro in 2024 and went into hiding before secretly leaving the country in November 2025.
Supporters believe Machado's return will put more pressure on the country's interim government, which is backed by the Trump administration, to hold democratic elections.

#Brazil 🇧🇷

Ukrainian MP confirms that 2023 peace plan, which was reported by @FT & accepted by Putin but rejected by Zelensky & Biden administration, envisioned:
"- Russia withdraws its troops from most of the four oblasts it had just declared “annexed.”
- The new line of demarcation runs roughly along the line as of February 24, 2022: Crimea and the part of Donbas that Russia controlled before the full-scale invasion.
- Ukraine recognizes Russian control over Crimea. - Ukraine grants Russia an unobstructed land corridor to Crimea.
- The ceasefire regime is guaranteed by NATO countries that provide protection for Ukraine.
- Russia begins negotiations with the US on its own security guarantees.
-Moreover, Russia was ready to give up the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant as well.
-And the 300 billion in frozen assets was to go toward rebuilding all of Ukraine, that is, together with the occupied territories.
-As for Crimea: we were not required to recognize it as Russian, only to recognize Russia’s control over it. In other words, we acknowledge that right now it is under Russian control (which is how it is). We were also required to adopt a law banning the return of Crimea by military means.
-The land corridor to Crimea, a highway and a railway, was to be built at Russia’s expense. The hardest question was how to guard it. That is why the Russians were ready to give up Melitopol, but not Tokmak: they feared we would cut the corridor with artillery.
-Zelensky rejected this proposal at the time."

Commentary: The Pentagon's latest move to label Confucius Institutes at U.S. universities as national security threats is an absurd overreach, exposing some U.S. politicians' warped threat perceptions and their dangerous political calculus of stoking anti-China sentiment ahead of the midterm elections xhtxs.cn/bfWl

I directed a Confucius Institute for 6+ years and have written two books on them. They serve China’s cultural diplomacy—but that alone is not evidence of espionage. Governance varies by university. Claims of 80 “propaganda cells” demand evidence, not sweeping generalisations.

The #Pentagon has identified a new threat: #ConfuciusInstitutes.
First refrigerators. Then cranes and garlic. Now the #ConfuciusInstitutes. The #NationalSecurity threat list keeps growing. Somewhere, a Mandarin textbook is presumably being grilled under a bright light.
Official data showed that by the end of 2025, 510 Confucius Institutes had been established in 164 countries and regions, bringing people closer through Chinese-language learning, opportunities to explore Chinese culture and greater understanding across cultural divides.
Turning classrooms into security threats takes a remarkable imagination. It also spares officials the trouble of distinguishing curiosity from conspiracy.
You might think understanding #China would help America navigate its relationship with China. But seeing an enemy behind every blackboard only turns ignorance into official policy.
Nothing projects confidence quite like treating a beginner's vocabulary list or paper cuttings as an enemy arsenal.

The Pentagon has finally won its war on tai chi and calligraphy classes!
Pete Hegseth announced on Friday that the Department of War has designated Confucius Institutes a national security threat, with a sinister mission “to steal intellectual property and to infiltrate the minds of American students”.
It is unclear how language lessons, calligraphy classes, tai chi sessions, Lunar New Year celebrations, and the occasional dumpling-making workshop threaten anyone’s national security.
Meanwhile, China isn’t unique in promoting its culture abroad. Britain has the British Council, France the Alliance Française, Spain the Instituto Cervantes. The US State Department runs hundreds of “American Spaces” around the world.
Apparently the US regime has reached the conclusion that any exposure to Chinese culture; any contact with Chinese people; any appreciation of Chinese civilisation; any notion of friendship and cooperation with China is a danger to white supremacy and the global imperialist order. Which, in a sense, it is. But that’s not the same as being a threat to national security.
Anyway, this ship has sailed. Sensible young people in the US despise their own regime and are increasingly appreciative of China’s role in promoting peace, its leadership in climate action, and its commitment to improving the lives of ordinary people. Crass McCarthyism will solve no problems and will only make the US government look more ridiculous in the eyes of its own citizens and the world.
“The disappointment of failed promises, the corruption, and the privileged lives of a few” sounds like a very accurate description of Trump’s degenerate America, not the courageous island of Cuba which has withstood 60 years of sanctions.

Forget the euphoria of Britain's change of policy on settlements. Palestinians, totally abandoned by the international community, are being ethnically cleansed in occupied east Jerusalem. I report for Middle East Eye on house demolitions in Al Bustan:

Fox News has uncovered a global conspiracy: 101 organisations in 13 countries involved in “organising, participating in, or amplifying” protests in Europe and India. At the centre of this web sits Neville Roy Singham, a US entrepreneur living in Shanghai who funds left-wing causes.
Who are these sinister organisations? According to Fox, they’re student associations, labour unions, socialist and communist groups, advocacy groups and media outlets. That labour unions and socialist parties would support radical protests is, of course, pretty shocking stuff.
The means of organisation, participation and amplification amount to… posting supportive messages on social media. That might sound fairly innocuous, but how else are we to explain the fact that young people in France, Italy, Spain, Albania, India and elsewhere are taking to the streets?
In France, young people are putatively protesting over education, public spending and the cost of living. In India, they claim to be opposing a revision of the electoral rolls that has removed around 130 million names. Across the Western world, a generation has spent three years watching its governments arm and defend a genocide in Gaza.
But it’s now clear that the real reason for these protests is the prolific social media activity of Roy Singham’s friends.
The whole thing calls to mind the mid-20th century in the US, when otherwise perfectly happy workers went on strike at the instigation of Soviet-paid agitators. Or when Black people in the South, treated very fairly under Jim Crow, came over all uppity upon contact with Chinese communist propaganda.
Being serious for a moment: what Fox News and others are complaining about is the anti-imperialist left having any voice at all. Liberal “freedom of speech” has always worked fine as long as the ruling class enjoyed an effective monopoly on propaganda and dissent was marginal. Now anti-war and anti-imperialist voices are growing louder and more effective, it seems that rules have changed.
We can see where that leads. In India, NewsClick founder Prabir Purkayastha was arrested in 2023 over alleged Singham-linked funding, an arrest the Supreme Court later declared invalid. In the US, Senator Grassley wants CodePink and the People’s Forum registered as foreign agents. In Britain, Palestine Action has been proscribed as a terrorist organisation, and more than 90 percent of last year’s 3,061 terrorism-related arrests were for supporting it. In the US, NSPM-7 lists “anti-capitalism” as an indicator of domestic terrorism.
Dimitrov defined fascism as “the open terrorist dictatorship of the most reactionary, most chauvinistic and most imperialist elements of finance capital”. This line of reporting and policy points in that direction. When liberal democracy can no longer win the argument, both liberalism and democracy are abandoned.
