This is a man nobody voted for arguing that voting is overrated and I bet you the irony is lost on him 😂

UK PM is easily removed by Parliament-Liz Truss lasted 49 days. The PM is also not head of state & doesn’t control the army so will we adopt these also? And the US was so alarmed that FDR stayed for so long that the minute he died they introduced 22nd amendment & never went back

We’ve already run his experiment. It was called the one-party state, zero elections for 19 years & instead of becoming Dubai we got empty shelves instead. Also comparing elections to colonialism is so backwards. What resembles colonial rule is having a leader you can’t vote out

Eish I don’t know man look at Museveni he scrapped term limits in 2005 and 20 years on Ugandans have failed to vote him out and every election widely condemned as rigged. He even nicely went on to scrap age limit in 2017 😂

Saying ‘ just vote them out’ works if elections are trustworthy. Right now the term limit is the only backstop against an election system that can be abused by the incumbent to stay in power. Only when we have truly credible elections can we possibly discuss term limit removal

Hollowing out the opposition then gloating you can ‘declare yourself winner’ because no one's left to run is like the arsonist blaming the house for burning. A ballot with only one name isn't a mandate - it’s just a one-party state with better PR

The law is supposed to stand in a government's way. That’s its entire job. A healthy response to a law that constrains your power isn't "amend the law", it's "reconsider whether we should be doing the thing the law forbids”

‘They're different’ is not an argument for a separate ministry. Everything which is why departments exist & can be created under existing ministries . By her logic no number of ministries is ever too high - you can just say "ah but these two things are slightly different."

True there’s no investigative aspect! It’s all reactive: they wait for a quote then repeat the quote. Nobody finds the story, verifies the claim or probes GRZ for comment. But cyber act has made it risky for them to print investigative pieces so it’s wild for them as well

We don't produce petroleum in any way, shape or form, but by God we will minister it

Because it takes three ministers to cut one ribbon, obviously. So when your kantemba finally becomes an exporting industry, the cutting ceremony can be carried out to standard with the correct minister-to-ribbon ratio

Why stop at a Ministry of Electricity? Let’s also add Ministry of Hydro power. Ministry of Solar. Ministry of diesel generators. ZESCO can report to all of them.

Create a new ministry = more rewards/tenders for loyalists & to buy defectors. Merge or realign = scattered budgets/ records, making auditing harder & pulling independent functions under political control. Dissolution= Flushing out neutral civil servants & pack with loyalists

So the first term was spent making sure they get a second. The second term will be spent making sure they never leave?

Yes there was no violence. Even the alleged ‘shootout’ with a militia gang the day after elections was mostly peaceful 😒

A whole lawyer & former Justice Minister saying that you ‘forfeit your rights’ by what you say!! If you can lose your constitutional rights by offending the State then they aren't rights, they're privileges. Also whether JJ’s speech crossed the line is for the Courts to decide!

Yes people are detained for months everywhere, thats not the sole issue. Courts are lenient if delay is caused but system, not by State admitting it's 'still investigating'. Delay counts as reasonable only when prosecutors are diligent not when they admit they're unprepared.

Thanks Japan I guess. But in 5 years UPND poured billions into politically-rewarding consumption, which returns only applause & votes. The railway that carries the copper underwriting the entire budget, social programs & the 3M-tonne goal is left to donors to fund

The issue isn’t how much copper you can dig out but how much you can physically get to a port. Most copper is trucked & trucking does not scale economically. Mining inputs are also constrained by same logistics. Developing high speed rail is the prerequisite for more output.

So you were elected to the position by your supporters but a different person was selected for the job? Hmm, this is a very familiar pattern…
