“Let’s have the baby”: Toronto dad changes mind after driving past Life Chain A Canadian Catholic priest has shared the good news that a baby was saved from abortion after the baby’s father encountered a Life Chain demonstration. Fr. Brenton Cordeiro, pastor of St. Timothy’s in Toronto, said in a recent Facebook video that the parents were expecting a child and had planned to have an abortion. After hearing the baby’s heartbeat on ultrasound, the mother decided she could not go through with it. The father, however, continued to pressure her to proceed. “For days and maybe even over a week, they were fighting,” the priest related. “They were at odds with regards to this child and his future.” This year’s Life Chain took place on Sunday, October 4. The annual event sees thousands of pro-life advocates from across Canada gather in over 350 locations for an hour of prayer and peaceful public witness for the preborn whose lives have been erased by abortion. Participants stand at designated intersections, pray quietly, and hold signs with messages such as “Abortion Kills Children,” “Abortion Hurts Women,” and “Jesus Forgives and Heals.” Organized nationally by Campaign Life Coalition and locally by parishes and pro-life groups, the witness is meant to confront the reality of abortion—nearly five million preborn children lost in Canada since legalization in 1969—while inviting passersby to reconsider. Parishioners from St. Timothy’s held their own Life Chain that day at the nearby intersection of Don Mills and Sheppard. While they were there, the father of the preborn baby drove past, saw the signs, and watched some 160 participants praying to end abortion. Something the father saw must have moved his heart. He realized what he needed to do. “So he goes home and tells his wife, ‘Let’s have the baby,’” Fr. Cordeiro related. The priest, who is a member of the Companions of the Cross, called the story a “beautiful testimony” that shows “the power of prayer, the power of peaceful resistance to this awful evil of abortion.” Photos: St. Timothy’s 2026 Life Chain participants. Alex Schadenberg of the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition on extending MAID to dementia by advance consent. He says the decision would fall to a family member or a doctor after the patient can no longer consent, and calls it “almost eugenic.”

187 Canadian MPs voted to expand euthanasia…
BREAKING: Liberals vote down protection for the mentally ill, open door to ‘advance request’ euthanasia for dementia – Press Release OTTAWA, October 7, 2026 — The Liberal Government today defeated Conservative-sponsored Bill C-218, which would have stopped the expansion of euthanasia (MAiD) to Canadians whose sole underlying condition is mental illness. The vote was 187-141. Hours before the vote, Liberal Justice Minister Sean Fraser told media that the Liberal government intends to table its own legislation this fall to indefinitely exclude people whose sole condition is a mental illness from euthanasia. But, in an alarming move for concerned Canadians, the government said its legislation will also expand euthanasia by decriminalizing advance requests, a long-sought goal of the euthanasia lobby. If passed, people diagnosed with a serious illness, such as dementia, who may lose the capacity to consent, will be permitted to request to be killed by euthanasia in the future, and will not have to provide consent before it happens. “The Liberal government is playing with lives,” said Jeff Gunnarson, National President of Campaign Life Coalition (CLC). “It plans to vote down a bill that would protect the mentally ill while claiming it will introduce its own protections. And on the same day, it says that it plans to make euthanasia more available for those suffering with dementia. The Liberal government is still bent on expanding death—it just changed its target.” Pro-life advocates have warned that euthanasia by advance request is a defining mark along the slippery slope that leads to euthanasia on-demand. Matthew Wojciechowski, CLC’s Vice President, said a bill like the one Minister Fraser outlined today would be unsupportable. "The Liberals, led by Prime Minister Mark Carney, failed to do the right thing, again. Now they are planning to expand euthanasia through advance requests. This raises serious questions about who is really driving this euthanasia regime. Canadians deserve a government focused on upholding human dignity at all its stages, not one steered by a death lobby of euthanasia activists.” Campaign Life Coalition thanks MP Tamara Jansen for introducing and championing Bill C-218 and for her steadfast commitment to protecting vulnerable Canadians.

Thousands of Canadians to Publicly Witness to Life at 36th annual Life Chain—Media Advisory On Sunday, October 4, thousands of Christians across North America will gather for Life Chain, an annual hour of prayer and peaceful public witness for the preborn whose lives have been snuffed out by abortion. Now in its 36th year in Canada, Life Chain has become one of the country’s largest coordinated pro-life demonstrations. The tradition began in Canada in 1991, when Campaign Life Coalition brought Life Chain north from the United States. This year, Life Chain is expected to take place in approximately 375 communities across Canada. Participants gather at designated intersections to pray quietly and hold signs with messages such as “Abortion Kills Children,” “Abortion Hurts Women,” and “Jesus Forgives and Heals.” “The Canadian pro-life movement silently but boldly confronts our pro-death culture with the pro-life message through Life Chain,” said Josie Luetke, a member of the Life Chain Canada committee. “The mainstream media may studiously ignore this message, but we’ve bypassed them, bringing the truth directly to our neighbours passing by.” There are no speeches or graphic images. For one hour, participants simply stand peacefully, pray, and invite their neighbours to consider the deadly reality of abortion. Almost 5 million preborn children have been erased by abortion since legalization in 1969. She added, “Our reach is unparalleled. On this one day, a considerable segment of our population will be forced to think about abortion and what it actually does.” Last year, more than 15,000 Canadians participated in Life Chain in over 375 locations from coast to coast, including a number of new locations in Quebec. Also last year, a new website was launched, lifechain.ca, to provide a dedicated hub for the event. Luetke said this event is particularly important at a time when it's assumed there's consensus on abortion. “When our country is committed to shrouding this evil in euphemisms and pretending this issue is settled, our visible opposition is critical,” she said. “It is the duty of anyone who would call themselves ‘pro-life’ to bear witness to those convictions.” Life Chain locations and times are posted on the Life Chain website. Event Details What: Life Chain—one hour of prayer and peaceful public witness for the preborn When: Sunday, October 4, 2026, at varying times Where: ~375 communities across Canada (See lifechain.ca for locations)

Why did @CBC scrub the word "baby" and replace it with "fetus" and "it"?
CBC recently ran a “miracle” story about surgeons operating on a baby inside his mother’s womb at 26 weeks. The groundbreaking surgery put baby Theo’s intestines back inside his body. He’s now five months old and thriving. Thank God. Then the @CBC edited the piece to replace “unborn baby” with “fetus” and called Theo an “it.” New headline: “Fetus has pioneering surgery inside the womb.” Subheadline: “Operation was to treat fetus that had intestines growing outside of its body.” I wish this were a joke. The CBC is so desperate to defend abortion ideology that it cannot even use the word “baby” while telling a story about a life being saved in the womb. It even issued a correction for calling Theo a baby: “This story has been edited to refer to a fetus rather than an unborn baby.” The real story is a newsroom so captured by wokism and radical feminist abortion politics that it cannot describe a child being saved without first stripping him of his humanity. The ideology became the story. The fact that they had to “correct” the word baby tells you everything. Photo: Baby Theo/BBC

🚨 Another study, yet again, showing that abortion can be harmful to women: ❗A study published in Issues in Law & Medicine found that 82.3% of women who had abortions would have been flagged as at risk of moderate-to-severe psychosocial harm if a simple screening tool had been used beforehand. ❗Even more striking, 84.1% reported moderate-to-severe negative reactions to their abortions. Risk was higher among women experiencing pressure or coercion, financial concerns, ambivalence, attachment to the pregnancy, or conflict with their personal values. Yet abortionists generally don't routinely screen for these risk factors. If 82% of patients undergoing another medical procedure were potentially at risk of serious harm, would we ignore the warning signs? Women deserve genuine informed consent, including being told about potential risks. tinyurl.com/43py59r2

In 1 month, thousands of Christians will gather across North America for Life Chain. Praying & bearing public witness to the ongoing injustice of abortion is the least we can do to ensure the plight of the preborn isn't forgotten & our neighbours cannot say “We did not know.”

How did we 🇨🇦 get here? Canada has created a system where doctors and other medical practitioners can be legally authorized to intentionally end the lives of vulnerable people. In his latest Western Standard opinion piece, Brandan Tran, Campaign Life Coalition’s Director of Public Affairs and Outreach, takes a hard look at the disturbing reality of Canada’s MAiD regime—and challenges us to consider whether a licence can ever make the intentional taking of a human life acceptable. It can’t. We should be protecting people who are suffering, not offering death as a solution to their suffering. 👉 Read the full article in the Western Standard: tinyurl.com/5f67j9py
