When I see an elephant, I call it an elephant. When I see poor research, I explain why it is poor research. It’s not personal. It’s my obligation as a scientist. But Cochrane called it “bad behaviour.” Cochrane is a social club and criticism of its fellows’ Cochrane reviews is not welcome. bit.ly/3suwr0l

Though biologically illiterate to vaccinate against any coronavirus, at least Sweden has put mRNA injections in the garbage can, where they belong.
Sweden is officially ditching mRNA vaccines, and they are not hiding their reasons for doing so.

Chomsky was wrong.
Researchers found your brain doesn’t store language the way every textbook since 1957 claims.
For decades, the undisputed rule of linguistics, led by Noam Chomsky, was that human language is hierarchical.
We were told our brains process language using complex "grammar trees." That we secretly build deep, abstract, mathematical rules in our heads before we speak.
This new paper proves that is completely wrong.
Researchers at Cornell University analyzed how people actually process and produce language in real time.
They found sequences. Linear chunks.
When we speak, we aren't calculating deep syntactic rules. We are just predicting the next most logical sequence of words based on the context of the words right before it.
We string linear chunks together.
If this sounds familiar, it should.
This is exactly how Large Language Models like ChatGPT work.
For years, critics have dismissed AI as "just a next-token predictor." They said it isn't truly intelligent because it doesn't understand deep grammatical hierarchies like humans do.
But this paper suggests humans don't use those hierarchies either.
We are just predicting the next chunk.
Language isn't a rigid tree of mathematical rules. It's a linear stream of contextual predictions.
We thought we were building AI to mimic the complexity of the human brain.
It turns out, the human brain was just running a simpler algorithm all along.

This song was written by Harold Arlen for the 1939 MGM classic THE WIZARD OF OZ. It is widely believed to be the most loved and enduring popular song of the 20th century.
It is played here on the 1929 RCA theremin that once belonged to the late Hollywood thereminist, Dr. Samuel Hoffman.

Every product in America can be sued if it injures or kills your child. Except one.
Aaron Siri told Joe Rogan how a 1986 law gave one industry "incredibly special immunity," right after its products caused so much harm manufacturers were going out of business.
That industry is vaccines. And once nobody could sue, almost nothing was done to make them safer. 🧵

Bill Maher played "Who said it? Fauci or Trump?" with lines from Fauci's private diary:
"It is not hyperbole to say I am the most famous and talked about person in the country"
That was Fauci. And his diary shows the thing he tracked most closely during the entire pandemic was his own fame.
He logged a petition to name him People's "Sexiest Man Alive," the "grandmothers who have crushes on me," and the full guest list of a celebrity Zoom call Kim Kardashian organized for him. 🧵
