Analysis ⤵️ Austin Reaves is in a prime buy low spot tonight against the Blazers in what should be a competitive game with a close 2.5 point spread and high 231.5 total. Reaves started the season going over in the first 4, but has followed that up with going under in 4 of last 5. I'm not too concerned there as one the usage has still been strong despite Luka going nuclear lately. Recent tough matchup vs TOR who is an elite defense and under also vs GS who is 5th best at defending pick & roll handlers. This spot is mcuh better vs Portland who struggles most against higher usage players. Blazers play single coverage and don't help off shooters much as they trust their individual defenders. POR allows the 4th most pts to pick & roll handlers but the 2nd fewest pts vs spot ups. This is favorable for the high usage guards like Reaves and Luka to have all the volume they want. I don't like buying high on Luka with this being his highest line all season and a tougher individual matchup vs Camara. However Reaves has the much more favorable spot since POR starts Dame and Scoot at guard with Morant out, but are not great defenders. Reaves is efficient in pick and roll actions and it great at drawing fouls, Blazers allow 4th most pts to PnR handlers and 7th most FT's. Clingan will often be in drop coverage, this can greatly benefit capable pull-up shooters. POR is giving up the 7th most pull-ups, Reaves takes 50% of his FG attempts as pull-ups. He's most dominant in that middle area in the paint non-restricted zone where POR has given up the most FG's made in the NBA. Austin already had 33 PA in this matchup earlier on 20 FG+FTA and 12 potential asts as well. Since last year with Luka in and no LeBron when he gets 31+ mins vs non top 10 pull-up defenses, Reaves averages 33.6 PA over in 12/14. Great spot here.
