Fairy tales don't tell children the dragons exist. They already know that dragons exist. Fairy tales tell children the dragons can be killed. ~G.K. Chesterton

Think back to 2006, last midterm w/ an unpopular war/GOP president. Where were the biggest House upsets? Places like IN, IA, KS, MN (Tim Walz!), NH, OH, WI, Upstate NY. That's why I think the Midwest & places w/ lots of secular white voters are especially ripe for surprises.

Lula wins, and it wasn’t particularly close — 3.5% or more than 4 million votes. It’s an epic comeback and we will need time to fully understand it. But one thing is clear — the extension in voting hours was not the difference maker in this race.

Democrats should realize that what Meta did in Brazil, they and other social media companies will do in the US in 2028 unless they are made to understand they will face criminal penalties for it

Lula didn’t just take on Bolsonaro. He took on the technofeudalists, election interference by Meta, U.S. diplomats, and won. Impressive and inspiring. LFG.

Brazil’s results tonight are a big endorsement for the idea that every country should have a second “are you you sure about that” election a couple weeks after the first one for the important stuff

Earlier today, I was asked who would win Brazil's presidential election. I predicted Lula. Polls and prediction markets favored Bolsonaro, yet Lula won. This should be a wakeup call for the United States. The polls are wrong. spoutible.com/thread/5111352…

Enfrentou FIESP, o agronegócio, o alto empresariado inteiro do país. A Globo, a Record, a Veja, o Brasil Paralelo, toda a imprensa. As igrejas evangélicas.

In the end, Brazil really did teach the United States a lesson. They jailed the fascist, and then they defeated his political heir.

That’s a downward revision for the ages. Yikes!
When first reported, 2025’s jobs reports added up to 1.2 million new jobs. After revisions, the economy added just 116,000 — 90% less.

Alex Gibney: “There was an estimate that what [Elon Musk] did by suddenly cutting USAID would cost through disease and starvation as many as 14M lives. Even if you discount that, we know within a year of those cuts where they were literally burning food going to starving children, 500K children died. This is really a crime against humanity, but he makes a joke about it, I put USAID into the woodchipper. What he put into the woodchipper were children”

Have we completely lost our capacity for outrage? A corrupt billionaire and an egotistical trillionaire get together and decide if innocent people live or die based on their pocketbooks and political whims. And we have to ask - will anyone care enough for it to matter?
“Elon Musk approached Donald Trump with the idea of slowing down Starlink in Ukraine, The Telegraph can reveal. The billionaire tech entrepreneur approached the US president with the proposal to introduce speed limits on the system, which hampered Ukraine’s drone defences, according to four sources familiar with the discussions. One of the sources said Mr Trump “agreed” with Mr Musk’s suggestion, paving the way for the Pentagon to execute the slowdown on Starshield, the military-grade version of the satellite communications system.

Billionaire spending in the midterm elections is on track to DOUBLE what they spent four years ago. I need everyone to realize that there's a direct correlation between billionaires buying elections and the fact that this economy only works for them. Tax the rich.
