Election Commission’s software has made a massive blunder. It’s translating Hindi/Urdu names by treating them as if they were English.
For example, the name was Muhammad Iqbal Beg, but the software turned it into “Mohammad Iqbal Bheek Mangte Hain”.
Another example: A woman’s name was Phool Kali Devi, and the software changed it to “Murkh Kali Devi” .

As per Article 171 of the Constitution,
the Members of Legislative Council (MLC), are elected by,
(i) the members of the Municipalities, District Boards and such local authorities,
(ii) the Graduates, and
(iii) the Teachers,and,
(iv) the Members of the Legislative Assemblies (MLAs),
Few Members are also nominated by the Governor.
Not all, but only, U.P., Maharashtra, Bihar, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have the bicameral legislatures. Jammu and Kashmir too had the two legislative Houses but the LC was abolished after abrogation of Article 370, in 2019.
Modiji will not tell you that this is an indirect election where except for the Teachers and Graduates, the existing, elected People’s Representatives elect their colleagues for the upper house. Needless to say the elections are governed by position of the ruling party in the popular houses.
Boasting of it as a win on BALLOT PAPER is like hitting a century on video game at Lords and boasting of one’s batting potential.
