Now 7 weeks with more $SPX stocks declining (330) than advancing on the week (170):
The $SPX may have gained 1.2% on the week, but 287 stocks close lower vs 216 higher, marking the 6th straight week of negative breadth. This is the longest streak since tracking started in 2015.

CCi30 Index...After overtaking price resistance at the 12,785 level two weeks ago, the Cloud Model capped a follow-through last week. This does not come as a surprise considering the overbought condition reflected by the shorter-term 8-Week Stochastic Momentum Index.

Longer-term MACD continues to track higher above its signal line and has edged into positive territory. The two in combination suggest that last week’s price action is just a pause to refresh after the previous two week’s price gains.

That's with the caveat that previous price resistance at 12,785 now acts as support. The preceding is an excerpt from today's Substack Blog, The Market's Compass Crypto Sweet Sixteen Study. themarketscompass.substack.c…

Short-term overbought. Time for a period of constructive "backing and filling".

Despite the $SPX having its best day since August 4th, there were more stocks making new lows than highs: -> 31 new 1 Month highs 130 new lows -> 13 new 3 Months highs 68 new lows -> 7 new 12 Month highs 29 new lows It's been a similar story for the last few weeks:

S&P 500 Index...The large cap Index violated support at the Cloud on an intra-day basis but closed back just on it. Nonetheless it closed below the Lower Parallel of the Schiff Pitchfork (solid violet line). MACD enters negative territory below its signal line.

That said, the Shorter- Term Stochastic Momentum Index is deeply over sold which may be a set up for a bounce. Watch the Kijun Plot at 7,665.00 (first resistance) but there is no recovery in the SPX Daily Momentum / Breadth Oscillator. Odds favor a test of VAP support at 7,400.00

The strongest signal comes from competition 📈
Ahead of today’s US Open final, we took out full-page ads in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and The Washington Post. The idea is simple: competition makes things better. Five-time US Open champion Pete Sampras didn’t become a legend competing alone. He needed someone on the other side of the net. Someone who saw the point differently. Who challenged every shot. Who made him earn every win. At 17, Sampras made his US Open debut and lost in the first round. Two years later, he beat Ivan Lendl, John McEnroe, and Andre Agassi to become the youngest men’s US Open champion ever. In 1992, he returned to the final and lost to Stefan Edberg. The loss made Sampras “obsessed with being the best.” He trained harder and won the US Open again the next year. At each step along the way, the competition got better, and Sampras had to get better with it. That’s what open competition does. It exposes weaknesses, rewards what works, and forces everyone to keep improving. Over time, the best rise to the top, and the level of the entire game gets better. But that only works when competition is truly open. Anyone can compete. Everyone plays by the same rules. Everyone can see the score and how the game is being played. And no one gets punished for being too successful. The strongest financial markets are built on the same principles of competition. Anyone can participate. Everyone trades under the same rules. Prices and activity are transparent for everyone to see. And no one is limited simply because they’re too successful. On a financial exchange, people bring different information, beliefs, and views of what something is worth, then put money behind those views. That competition drives price discovery. When traders are right, they’re rewarded with more resources to put behind their views. Positions get bigger. The stakes get higher. Better information is rewarded, worse information is punished, and thousands of competing views are distilled into a single market price. That price is useful to everyone, not just the people trading. It becomes a real-time signal of what the market collectively believes, helping us better understand what is happening and what is likely to happen next. Competition breeds legends. And better market prices.

What follows is an excerpt from yesterday's Market's Compass Crpto Sweet Sixteen Study posted to my Substack Blog... themarketscompass.substack.c… For the third week in a row the 12,380 level has capped a continuation of the rally from the 9,825 level four weeks ago.

Both measures of price momentum, the shorter-term Stochastic Momentum Index and longer-term MACD continue to climb higher above their respective signal lines. The Total Technical Condition Crypto Factor (lower panel) has hooked higher and remains above both rising moving averages

Key first support is at the 10,825 level. A break above the 12,380 level would help confirm that the Index has seen its lows.

The Hudson Bay Peso...On the Cloud Tight Rope, Flanked by Life and the Funeral Pyre. Short term Momentum as measured by the Stochastic Momentum Index suggests its oversold but longer-term MACD in non-technical terms "not so good, eh?"

S&P 500 Equal Weight Index...teetering on Cloud support, MACD continues to track lower, now in negative territory for the first time since April and the EW Index has been underperforming the S&P 500 Index since late August.

Both momentum oscillators have fallen below their signal lines, and the Fisher Transform has rolled over through its signal line. The recent series of Doji suggests a marked level of indecision.

Only a rally that allows prices to escape the upper confines of the Standard Pitchfork at the Upper Parallel (solid gold line) will suggest the Bulls are back in control again.
