One of Belgium’s biggest (Hamas propaganda) News channels, VTM Nieuws, used Israel’s election day for a classic smear. Their report claimed 7.5 million Palestinian Muslims, mostly women and children, are deprived of the right to vote and caged away from the ballot boxes because they are non-Jewish. The framing was pure apartheid blood libel: Israel as the Islamophobic anti-Muslim state that strips Muslims (mostly women and children) of basic human rights. Israeli Ambassador to Belgium David Saranga published the facts in an open letter. Arab citizens of Israel (about two million) have the same voting rights as everyone else. They stand for election and serve in the Knesset. Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank are not Israeli citizens, so they do not vote in Israeli elections. That is the same logic that would make a Belgian headline read “Elections in Belgium: 18 million Dutch people have no vote.” It is not journalism. It is deliberate distortion. Even worse, VTM skipped the actual Palestinian reality. The last Palestinian parliamentary elections were in 2006. Mahmoud Abbas has postponed every one since, most recently pushing the next vote out to 2027. No free elections under the Palestinian Authority or Hamas for twenty years, yet European media still treat them as eternal victims of Israeli “apartheid.” This is not a mistake. It is the same false victim narrative recycled to attack the Jewish state while covering for a Palestinian dictatorship that refuses its own people a vote. When a major Western channel does this on election day, it is not reporting. It is Hamas TV with better production values.
