Welcome to the LTN/ ULEZ debate five+ years too late
The idea that he thinks this means “more space less traffic” is so moronic it is laughable. If you put more traffic into less space you get more congestion, which is exactly what has happened! He hasn’t got a clue.

Labour. You have all the power. Every department, every budget, every lever. So stop hiding behind a press release and answer one question. Your own numbers. 135,580 British households crammed into temporary accommodation, a record. Over 9,000 of our own sleeping rough every month, a record, the fourth year running. Ours in hostels and doorways. Our veterans on the pavement. Our kids in B&Bs. Now the other column. 93,000 people in Home Office accommodation, all of it on our tab. 73,000 of them dumped into HMOs and flats on your street. 16,000 still in hotels. 205,000 have crossed the Channel since 2018 and only 5 per cent have been sent back. Foreign criminals on our streets at a record 21,294. Theirs in hotels. Ours in doorways. So answer it. Why not send them back. They come over a terrorist highway, now run by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. Rubber boats, smuggler gangs, and a year later nobody knows who they are or where they went. Because they will tell you it is complicated. ECHR. Judicial review. Human rights lawyers. Appeals. The backlog. Pull factors. A returns deal with France. A taskforce. A review. A consultation. A pilot. A bill that takes four years and fixes nothing. They call the Rwanda plan a gimmick and the barges a gimmick, then use every excuse the Tories ever used. Take all that away and half your government is out of a job. Which would also be a good thing. The thing is simple. Homeless solved. Illegals solved. And our own are still on the pavement. You promised to end rough sleeping "once and for all". You called it a moral mission. You have all the power. So do it. Or admit it out loud. You are not for the British. You never were. You are for everyone but.
Ending Rough sleeping is the patriotic and progressive thing to do. No Brit should be comfortable knowing our fellow countrymen and women are sleeping on the streets. It is a moral mission to end rough sleeping and by God are we going to end it. This is Labour.

JAILED: Seventh man down in the £266m Bradford cash-laundering racket. Samir Jagirdar, 58, of Croydon, got seven years at Leeds Crown Court for money laundering. He owned Pure Nines in Hatton Garden a pure front set up to funnel criminal cash to Fowler Oldfield scrap jewellers in Bradford and buy high-purity gold that was then shipped to Dubai on fake invoices. West Yorkshire Police called it one of the biggest criminal cash laundering probes in UK history. Couriers delivered bags of notes from across the country. At peak, Fowler Oldfield was banking up to £1.7m a day. More than £200m went through its NatWest account between 2014 and 2016 alone. When police hit the premises in 2016 they seized over £4m in cash and gold; at Pure Nines they found counting machines, holdalls stuffed with notes, and 147 “gold” bars — almost all of them fake silver plated to look legit. Jagirdar admitted the offences (2012–2016). His brother-in-law Baqa Haider already got six years. Others got 10–11+ years; some are still on the run. Judge called it commercial-scale criminality. This is what industrial-level dirty money looks like when it washes through British businesses and banks.

Chancellor John Healey is set to hike alcohol duty and slap 2p on every pint in the Budget. 🍺 The government takes over 10 times more than the pub owner. The cost of living crisis is a cost of government taxation of small businesses crisis.

🇾🇪 David Moyes left with £5.2m in compensation in 2014, Louis van Gaal with £8.4m in 2016, and Jose Mourinho and his staff with £19.6m in 2018. The 2022 accounts then recorded exceptional costs of £24.7m, covering Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ralf Rangnick and parts of their backroom teams. Erik ten Hag and his staff cost a further £10.4m, and Ruben Amorim’s departure came to £8.2m after he took the AC Milan job, a figure that would have been closer to £16m had he not found a new club. Added together, all that is close to £80m paid out for sackings. Now, let’s compare that to other clubs. Arsenal have paid out £27.5m, Liverpool £22.7m, Chelsea £53m and Spurs £60m. United, the biggest club of the five, and once the most stable, have spent more than any of them, yet we have little more to show for it than Spurs. A club that pays that much to start over again and again, and still ends up in the same place, clearly has a problem that no manager can solve. Yet it’s the managers who’ve been quickly shown the door, while those who hired them, didn’t backed them and then dismissed them, have never faced a moment of real scrutiny. It’s time for the standard applied to the man on the touchline to be equally applied to the people above him. #ManchesterUnited #Berrada #Wilcox

The problem with EU free movement is almost everyone in the UK just thinks it will allow them to travel in the EU more easily. What it also means is that all EU citizens including those rioting ‘students’ will be able to come here. And every illegal migrant given a passport anywhere in the EU will be able to settle in the UK on the taxpayers expense. And Burnham is fully aware of this. Is that what you want ? msn.com/en-gb/news/other/bri…

They were all bailed the next day, how much evidence was lost? Meanwhile Danny Tommo is in prison on remand for bursting a dinghy?!

An increase to £13.20p/h equates to a minimum wage of £27,456, based on a 40 hour week. Once you factor in employers NI and basic pension contributions, the MINIMUM cost to hire a 21 year old for a company would be £31,461. This is before you factor in any overarching business costs like office space, laptops, phone, software, training, support staff, vehicles etc. This is going to be devastating to SME's who cant put together a simple 12 month budget without the goalposts being moved & their margins squeezed. It'll also be catastrophic to youngsters opportunities because businesses will simply not be able to afford to hire them. What's also incredible is that anything above £50,270 is seen as 'high earnings' in the UK and is taxed at 40%! We are governed by financially and economically illiterate morons. This will not end well.
🚨 NEW: John Healey will increase the minimum wage for over 21s from £12.71 to around £13.20

Angela Rayner is a product on UK Unions. She began as a mere member, rose to be a Shop Steward and then supported by them, was elected in a safe seat to Parliament. She has no experience of house building or anything else for that matter, but sits as the UK's Housing Minister. How on earth is she qualified to do so?

🚨🎙️ Wayne Rooney on the Glazers and Sir Jim Ratcliffe: 🔴💣 “The Glazers have no right to blame anyone. They are the real problem at Manchester United, and they need to go. They have shown little evidence of genuinely caring about this club. Now, they seem desperate to shift the blame onto Sir Jim Ratcliffe rather than face the consequences of their own failures. Let’s be honest, if they had done their jobs properly, Manchester United wouldn’t be in this mess in the first place. They have overseen years of disappointment, poor decisions, and decline. If the Glazers can’t run Manchester United properly, they should sell up and get out. This club is bigger than their egos and financial interests. The fans deserve owners who protect its legacy, not owners who continue to let it down.”

One thing that's surprised me about Andy Burnham is the extent to which he just lies. He says this morning small boats are because of Brexit and "we can't return people". The FACTS: In last 5 years of Dublin agreement the UK took in far more migrants than it sent back. 2016: net 200 2017: net 150 2018: net 1000 2019: net 500 2020: net 800 Five years = net 2,500 more migrants than sent back. Plus, now we'd have to sign up to the migration and asylum pact so the numbers will be enormous. He knows this. His advisors know this. They are just lying to you.

The time for talk has long passed, says Bridget Phillipson. So she has set up a taskforce, and signed off fifteen million pounds of your money. Follow the money. The cash goes to the Office for the Impact Economy. A quango. Not a department, not a service, a quango. It is then handed out in grants to charities. And the taskforce that decides what "works" is stuffed with those same charities. Women's Aid. The End Violence Against Women Coalition. Girlguiding. A mayor, and a few academics. So the sector sits on the panel, defines the problem, defines the solution, and then bids for the money. Circular. Five million a year of public money, through a quango, to the same charities, to run training and adverts about attitudes. And nobody will ever be able to tell you whether it worked. You cannot measure misogyny. No baseline, no target, no number. It is a mood with a budget. In three years the money is gone, the men are exactly the same, and it will be declared a triumph. And these are the same charities who spend their other hours telling you Britain must take in more people. So the handout does not stop at the grant. It funds the sector that lobbies for the next wave. The time for talk has long passed. So they wrote a cheque to their own client base and called it a policy. Fifteen million pounds. Our money. For a feeling. And the girls are still being failed in the towns.
The time for talk has long passed. This government is putting its money where its mouth is when it comes to supporting women and girls. We'll back practical action to confine misogyny to the history books - in public services, workplaces, and online. theguardian.com/society/2026…
