Most people think companies go to China for low labor costs.
Tim Cook says that stopped being true years ago.
The real reason is skill.
It's not only how good the skill is. It's how much of it sits in one place.
Apple's products need advanced tooling and state-of-the-art precision with the materials.
That kind of expertise runs very deep in China.
Tim: "In the US, you could have a meeting of tooling engineers and I'm not sure we could fill the room. In China, you could fill multiple football fields."
So it isn't about cost. It's about vocational depth.
