to be able to casually dap him up, or just randomly talk ball with him, as a colleague basically in my dream job, like regularly, is just still one of the most fulfilling experiences of life. I’m so glad he took a chance on a desperate kid. None of you know me, without Mike. /fin

have I worked my behind off? of course. have many more people done me many more favors in bigger spots for them? certainly. but that first moment of confidence, that boost and opportunity given from someone that I had so much respect for, was life-changing.

when I got there, it was a lot of pressure, but I knocked it out the park. many of you know this part of the story. George Michael loved me and I got to regularly kick it with Jim Vance too. The rest is history, so to speak. But here’s the thing

she said, you come very highly recommended from our friend Mike Wilbon and then proceeded to run down a quick outline of my work that I would have never thought Mike bothered telling them about. It was the most humbling experience of my life. and she offered me the internship

that MONDAY MORNING, I got a phone call in my dorm from a producer at WRC4 in my hometown, a fact that in itself, floored me. Like, just hearing a person of that position say my name changed me. She asked me if I had any summer plans and I straight starting crying

I was for whatever reason EXTREMELY embarrassed about this. having no real plan or guidance just knowing I could and should be doing more. He said, I got you. I believed him, but I didnt know if they would want a rando local kid with bad grades who wrote about some school in Ohio

he said, okay. right down your phone number, next week, you’re gonna get a call from the George Michael Sports Machine. I think you’d be a good intern.
bc I was kind of a horrible student I was never good at signing up for stuff like that and so I thought it was too late

that next day was a Friday and we talked again and he asked, are you serious about this or do you just want free seats at games. I explained to him why I thought storytelling was cool and that at this point in life it was the only thing I was ever close to good at so yes, I was.

Tony said, “Mike, some kid followed me from the radio show and I guess you’re his idol or whatever so you should probably talk to him.” He was being funny, but this was all true. So, Mike did. I hung out all day at the studio, watched the show, and came back the next day

Tony K saw this stack of papers and said, let me guess, you wanna meet Wilbon. Tony didnt know at the time that his WaPo Style column and radio show are what made me want to be a journalist. But Mike was another matter. I was flat out intimidated, when the moment came

quick personal story for. if you don’t know, this is @RealMikeWilbon. 20+ years ago, this man very much changed the course of my career and thus life. To casually see him around the studio and be friends with him is still sorta surreal, no matter how many times we kick it.

The media is the main driving force behind much of this
Its also a strong belief by many, especially on the right, that money going to Ukraine is being stolen, some funnelled back to politicians here in the us. I believe that needs to be fully investigated.
But there are many who claim Ukraine is to blame for the war with Russia. I think much of that is Russian propaganda but how can any of us know for sure?
Billions go to Ukraine. Do we know exactly where?
Iran was close to having weapons grade uranium. Very close. That's not debated. Every one agrees. But would they have actually MADE a bomb? If they did would they really USE a nuke? That's the disputed part
I believe yes to both. Especially if a DEM was the president. I think they felt they could bully the us with the threat of a nuke
Why refuse to relinquich that demand (to be allowed nukes) if you don't plan to do it?
The media didn't present this side. So Americans didn't believe or accept this view
But every recent us president or candidate from bush to Hilary to Obama to Harris all said "Iran cannot have nukes". So why is this controversial today?
They didn't need long range missiles as many claim. Again this is a media inspired fallacy.
Just think...
They could have literally loaded it on a plane and flew it to DC or NY. Just like 911. A boat. A sub. A yatch. Many ways to deliver a bomb undetected. Just getting close is enough. The damage from radiation would last generations.
IM not an expert by any measure. But my own opinion is that there is an extreme, radical tilt to some portion of Muslims. Its not at all small. Its millions or tens of millions. Maybe hundreds of millions. Their views are extreme on many subjects that even dems don't prescribe to. But they support them anyway. Once more the media doesn't show the videos and proclamations about rape, beheadings, forced conversion, ETC.
extreme Muslims want all non Muslims dead. And if they have to kill actual Muslims to get there they think its OK
Here again the media doesn't show videos of the "death to america" or Muslim "scholars" preaching that its OK to rape non Muslims or marry children. The media didn't show these things so Americans didn't know or accept it.
Its not all Muslims of course. Many just want to live as we do. But the extreme radical element is large and they not only do not fear death in war they welcome it. They SAY this out loud. You just wont see it on CNN
Reagan maybe was the one who noted how do we fight people who don't fear death?
