It is sort of genius though 😬 the hypocrisy laid bare in how we romanticise historical protesters & revolutions that have got us to where we are today - even the very violent ones - but hate anything that inconveniences us now

For decades, schools have applied a de facto “don’t ask, don’t tell” grading policy in which admin don’t ask how teachers create grades & teachers don’t share.
The result: Schools aren’t really sure what grades really represent. This is problematic from a data perspective.

Uncomfortable truth: Students use apps to cheat because the system grades based on "right answers" and compliance, instead of encouraging intellectual curiosity. If we truly want students to stop cheating, we need to dismantle the system that rewards them for it.

To ask teachers to be on the front line of mass shootings, the front line of a pandemic, and the front line of the struggle against inequality all while underpaying them and systematically underfunding the education system is both cruel and a recipe for societal collapse.

It's absurd when people say, "Why are teachers sharing anything about their personal lives?!" to try to silence LBGTQ+ Ts.
Ever spend 9 months every day with someone who didn't reveal anything about their life?
No, you haven't because they're a serial killer and you'd be dead.

Two months later, a legislator on the House floor said he would burn books deemed inappropriate in school libraries.
So, that’s Tennessee right now.

Real learning loss is:
- students not having a teacher because they resigned.
- students having teachers who are burnt out.
- students having teachers who are struggling to survive so they have to work another job.
- students not having the resources that they need.

It’s very difficult being an introverted educator because you have to force yourself to be “on” every day. Almost every aspect of your work involves doing the thing that requires most of your energy - interacting with people.

Important reminder to all school admin: You work for your staff-not the other way around. If you pull into your school every day thinking everyone works for YOU, you’re in the wrong position.
