I miss these sweet, silly former students of mine!! 💕

It has been the absolute best semester with this crew!! These kids brought positive attitudes & a willingness to adapt to our virtual classroom every day. Watching them grow as learners & develop friendships with each other has been so meaningful to me. #TheresNoPlaceLikeSalem

Best part of every day? Seeing my students interacting with each other. That can be tough to do virtually but my group is so great at greeting one another, checking in on their classmates, making connections & discussing shared interests. Every single day they blow me away!!

Happy #ElectionDay2020! Today we talked about the importance of voting (& how our state is a swing state!), read a great book, shared our thoughts about what it means to be American, & some students even shared their experiences of going with family members to vote! 🗳🇺🇸

This morning I was explaining to a student who is new to Salem what a track out is. His response? “Ohhh ok!! I get that!!! I’m ready!” 😂 me too, kid, me too.

Virtual learning is a BIG adjustment for everyone—students, teachers, families, school staff. Random words of appreciation always warm my heart but now more than ever it is just what I need to hear. (Also you know you work in education if you can immediately read this sentence😂)

We had FANTASTIC virtual group collaboration on our math work this morning! Students showed off their understanding of equal groups, repeated addition, & multiplication with this word problem about bunches of bananas. 🍌👩🏽‍💻👨🏼‍💻👨🏾‍💻👩🏻‍💻🍌 #TheresNoPlaceLikeSalem

Not that I need an excuse to start into fall & Halloween celebrations early but our science unit on the skeletal system is a perfect reason to break out the skeleton earrings today!! 💀

For our morning meeting today several students shared greetings with our class in their families’ home languages so tomorrow we will all practice these greetings together! 💕

Wrapping up week 1 with some jokes! Students can submit jokes at any time via a Google Form & we are going to finish the day by letting a few of them share with their classmates! 😂💕

Shared some pictures of myself from third grade & asked my new students to guess what year I was in third grade. We had guesses everywhere from 1709 to 2012 😂 this is what I’ve missed most. I love these early days of sharing & building a class community!#TheresNoPlaceLikeSalem

Y’all my students BLEW ME AWAY today! They were pros at Google Meet & quickly picked up on Google Classroom, Slides & Forms. All in day 1! They’ve already been building community through collaboration by sharing how to use these tools w/ their classmates. #TheresNoPlaceLikeSalem

Just had a Meet the Teacher like no other but it was so good to “see” my students and get ready for a brand new school year! 📚💕#TheresNoPlaceLikeSalem

Ready to start year 4 of teaching! I know it’ll be one to remember for sure. It was so great to be (virtually) back together with the Salem staff today 💕📚 #theresnoplacelikesalem

The teaching part of my job may have wrapped up today but the learning part did not! Spent the morning celebrating the end of the year with my sweet students & now I’m enjoying the rainy weather while I dig into the first of many education books I plan on reading this summer! 💕
