Remember how I was saying El-Sayed watches Obama’s old videos? Ossoff has listened to every publicly available speech from Martin Luther King.

Onimasa (1982) is one of the most underrated crime films of the 80s. It was marketed in the West as “Japan’s answer to The Godfather,” but it’s so much more than that.
Legendary actor Tatsuya Nakadai plays a yakuza boss trapped in an identity crisis in early 20th‑century Japan: he’s trying to be both a noble feudal warrior and a modern crime boss. He believes he’s a man living by a code of honour but his self image clashes with his day to day life of dog fights, union busting, prostitution and bloody vendettas.
What makes Onimasa so unique is that so much of it is told through the eyes of his adoptive daughter Matsue, who’s sold into the clan’s house as a child and, despite the toxic and oppressive environment, grows into an educated, independent woman.
Through her perspective, the film becomes a character study of Onimasa and, by extension, the yakuza myth itself, tearing down the fantasy and showing these men as violent bullies clinging to a dying code.
But Onimasa isn’t a two‑dimensional villain: he loves his daughters, he tries to stand on principle against his own bosses, and clings to a personal code in a world that never seemed to have room for it to begin with. That tension is exactly what makes this one of the most devastating deconstructions of the 1960s yakuza “chivalry films” ever put on screen.

He couldn’t be beaten in Parliament this is probably one of the best clips showing how quickly Blair could think on his feet. Burnham could give it a try but I doubt he’d be this effective..
During Covid I spent the first few weeks reading LIFE issues from the ‘60s my mom has, and the depth of reporting and storytelling reminded me that a magazine actually provided a month’s worth of reading in the past

My dad taught me this before speaking at a close friend’s funeral. The way to not get too emotional is to realize that you have a job to do and to serve.
Same thing applies to athletics. Focus on the job you have to do. Nerves/Anxiety only happen with an idle mind.
Another wisdom drop from Pat Murphy...
"You've got a job to do. This is not about you. If you're nervous, that's about you."

There's this quaint café at the heart of Muthithi rd Westlands called SipSpell Coffee (directly opposite Hyatt Regency, same compound as Maxxis tyre centre). When I tell you they've got the best & moistest Tiramisu in town & the tastiest black forest mocha coffee in Nairobi? 😮💨

Keep saying this. Sitting across someone doesn't give you much to go off on.
I seem to have unwittingly modelled my life on the 1934 novel 'The Werewolf of Paris'!
"Bertrand is basically a nice young man, but he’s subject to overwhelming appetites whenever the change comes upon him. He makes his way to Paris but his destiny is inescapable. He finds love of a kind, with a woman who has almost as many problems as he has..."
