We’re back!! Thanks to everyone who joined the meeting today. Can’t wait to see you all in person again
Brilliantly energetic first meeting of the #NWConservators after various lockdowns.
Great to get to know my 'new' colleagues in the northwest, & see some familiar faces.
Talked about disaster response, pests, climate change, & planning a Christmas Conference.
Watch this space :-)
It’s #AskAConservatorDay did you know this was first held in memory of the 1966 Florence floods which happened on the 4th November. Flood awareness is increasingly important with climate change. Ask if you need some advice on caring for wet objects

Reuse is an important part of sustainability: so, I found some weird bird head socks that nobody needed, and naturally I made them into weights. (...for weighing things down, not some sort of squirrel sized gym. 🏋️🐿️)
Anyone want some? 😂♻️

Come work with us! On a tremendously talented team might I add. This position is vital to our capacity in supporting @Cornell‘s amazing collections at @Cornell_Library - our department is hyper-collaborative and focused on thoughtful approaches to our work. Please share! – at Ithaca, NY
We are pleased to announce a new position for Senior Conservation Technician. The focus of this position will be to support our growing archives collections. Submission of applications by October 22, 2021 is strongly encouraged. Come work with us!

It came in as a lampshade but it was actually an 18th century deed and our amazing conservation team managed to return to its original condition. Now it’s available for everyone to see – no lightbulb required! bit.ly/3va6b7N

Lovely to see some conservation in the news 😍 I mean paintings are THE objects that make the news, but still... Look at it! Conservators at work! Mm.

There is more than books, and artwork in the @BPLboston’s Special Collections. This is a cuneiform tablet dating from between 2350-562 BCE. BPL Conservation Officer Lauren built the box shown here, including padded alcoves and a sewn pocket pop-up feature for easy removal. (1/2)

Collections care folks: I'd love to interview someone for @thecwordpodcast about unusual storage for museum objects.
❄️ Cold storage (the chillier the better!)
💧 Wet storage (mm, waterlogged)
🌬️ Anoxic storage (*gasping noises*)
If you know anyone who fits the bill, lemme know!
