It’s been an inspiration for me & @GlobalNCAP team to support @NaranMeera’s tireless campaign for Dev’s law. Also knowing grief of losing a much loved child, I so admire her outstanding courage & determination to improve UK vehicle safety standards. A great road safety champion.
I could not be prouder to be delivering on Dev’s Law today. @NaranMeera has campaigned tirelessly for action on road safety, to ensure no other family suffers the devastation she experienced. theguardian.com/politics/202…

“The government must ensure this consultation leads to a clear commitment to change, backed by robust enforcement, public education and sustained investment in prevention. Road safety is not simply a transport issue; it is a public health priority. This strategy presents a real opportunity to reduce avoidable deaths and life-changing injuries, but only if it is progressed decisively by government.”

Today the government announced its Road Safety Strategy.
Dr Heather Grimbaldeston, Chair of the BMA Public Health Medicine said "This Road Safety Strategy is a welcome, if overdue, step towards improving public health and we welcome the consultation on reducing the drink-drive limit. The BMA has long argued that lower limits will save lives, prevent serious injury and reduce the long-term burden on the NHS."

Today I am proud to announce our Road Safety Strategy.
4 people die on our roads every day - that’s unacceptable.
This Government is taking bold action: cracking down on drink & drug driving, mandating advanced safety tech in vehicles, and investing in safer infrastructure.
