True Speed Training looks very Vanilla on paper. It looks like: brief prep work, a handful of max effort reps, long rest periods, and chasing PRs.
A lot of the extra fluff coaches add is more for the image than the result.
Speed Training done right, isn’t flashy🙌🏻

Trap bar being sold as the “back friendly alternative” to a deadlift is rubbish.
Watch 100 videos of people doing heavy trap bar deadlift and tell me how many of them feature rounding of lower T spine down through L5.
Sumo deadlift is the back friendly variation.

You can literally Sprint 3-5 Max Effort Reps 2x a week and continually to get faster all year.
Minimal time investment. Minimal Fatigue.
There’s no reason for Athletes not to do true Sprint work with their Strength Training.

A true disciple looks for any excuse to share the good news.
Iowa quarterback Hank Brown just showed us what it looks like.
Acts 20:24:
“However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me...”
Amen, amen, amen.

If I were an unathletic teenager who wanted to get faster, stronger, and more explosive…
This is exactly what I’d do the rest of 2026.

The younger you can get Athletes training, the better.
The sooner you dose proper stimulus, the stronger you lay the foundation of neural wiring.
This is especially important prior to puberty, where they get a surge of androgens multiplying output.
Early training, higher peak.

Athletes… You know how you want to “go light” because you’re in-season?
Cool, you got none of the benefits of Strength Training but did create fatigue you now have to recover from.
Matter of fact, those Light High Rep sets created MORE fatigue. Stop doing this!

The Program that can make you Stronger, Faster, more Explosive for Football…
Also will do the same thing for Basketball, Baseball, Wrestling, Soccer, etc.
It’s all general Athletic development. Don’t be fooled.

Sprinting in of itself is a stimulus that creates adaptations that contribute to Speed improvements.
This is highly neurological, and contributes to the opposite end of the extremes of Force production.
With this being said, all athletes regardless of Sport should Sprint.

It’s actually crazy athletes have been brain washed for years to lift light in-season.
The light load with moderate to high repetition training creates MORE fatigue.
It’s not even close. Lift Heavy for brief amounts of time. Get out. Play sport. Hit PRs year round!

Hill sprints are one of my favorite ways to bridge the gap between general prep and higher intensity sprinting.
As the grade increases, velocity decreases, ground contacts become longer, flight time becomes shorter and the mechanical demands change.

Since this, Joshua Báez has homered two more times. Three major league plate appearances, three home runs -- the first player in big league history to go deep three times in his first game. One to left, one to center, one to right. Best debut for a hitter in big league history.

Consistent exposure to this simple drill in training will make you faster and more explosive 🧨

If you find that your Verticals slow down, despite a high Squat ratio and loaded jumps…
You likely need something faster than jumping to hit the next neural gear.
This is where Sprinting can be of huge benefit to Jump training. Touch extremes of Velocity to raise the middle.

Effective and easy to set up acceleration + COD race that drives high effort from the athletes.
This style of race drives competition and I’ll typically throw the athletes on lasers immediately after for fast times and PR’s!
Athlete 1 has to cover 5 yards, touch the target, and then finish back 10 yards to the finish line while athlete 2 has a straight sprint to the finish line 🏁
Save for later and tag a training partner you want to race 📈
