Failure spiral.
If this was football they'd fire the Soccer coach.
If Bodnar/Lasiter had funded athletics, they'd have kept Citowicki, and made Soccer a UM asset.
If Haslam was hawkish & had donor proxies help him in the funding battle, all sports (and UM!) would be stronger.
From three straight Big Sky Conference regular-season championships and a NCAA Tournament berth to a 3-13-1 campaign including a 1-7-1 mark in the Big Sky. The Griz finish dead last in the league standings and don't even qualify for the very conference tournament that they are hosting next weekend.
Montana scored just 4 goals against D1 opponents this season and were shutout in 11 of their 17 games. It was a month into the season before they scored against D1 competition. Uncompetitive.
Point blank, there should've been a greater effort from UM to keep Chris Citowicki, get him what he wanted facility-wise, and let him keep genuinely building the program, a place he wanted to be and stay. He had a true vision and blueprint and the Griz were on the track to being a college soccer power in the northwest under his watch. Now, that's unraveled.
Tough look for U.Montana to have someone speak outside their lane for the University in the same week in which her former school (University of Providence) fold.

Be emotionally attached to the process, without being emotionally attached to the results.
Uh oh. I worry this is gonna be like when Rogan interviews scientists, and doesn't have the expertise to ask follow-up Q's, or push on statements. This is important & I fear administrators will muddy the water with complexities & things will be less clear when it's done.
This point didn't get a response from Schuyler Torre (@schuylerwatt). He's dead wrong to suggest UM isn't competitive in the BSC. He's right about: UM not being competitive with MSU; UM's leadership failing to keep up; Griz FB being plundered for $ that UM should supply.
Alternatively, UM can't afford to continue its myopic tradition of underfunding #GrizFB. The Institution risks squandering the culture, recruiting, and philanthropic advantages built in Missoula.
Yeah I have a heavy heart, the year the Big Sky is wide open and the Griz have WEAPONS, is the same year the defense can't find it's ass.
This is the kind of "take your ball and go home" attitude MSU fans want Griz faithful to have.
It may be time to pull money and support from the athletics department to give us the change we all want and need until it’s fixed…what say you @ASchmidtacular
Such a dramatic response from @SkylineSportsMT, the 5th best product in the 200th biggest media market.

The “flying” Tesla is such a bleak symbol. A fake invention for a fake society that’s facing mounting real problems.
How great was it when Nugent was like, the special teams guys were bad in Hauck 2.0! And then the other guys were...Bergen...Flowers?
Like, if you remove Ruth and Gehrig, who were the 27 Yankees?
