At @TUCSouthWest Regional Council today - saying farewell to @NigelCostley on his retirement after 26 years as TUC Regional Secretary. Huge thanks for your service to our movement from me personally & @UNISONSW - enjoy your well earned & busy retirement!
A big thanks to everyone who has supported me in my campaign to be Exeter's next Labour candidate.
It's been rewarding speaking to members in Exeter over past weeks & hear their priorities. I look forward to making my case to you at tomorrow's selection meeting!
Good to spend time speaking with UNISON Devon branch sec @ryles65 today about issues affecting Devon County Council staff & services. Not least a large predicted budget overspend; a poor Ofsted report on lack of improvement in SEND provision,
; & impact of cost of living crisis.
A reminder that @exeterlabour will be holding its selection meeting to decide their next Labour Parliamentary Candidate for Exeter a week today.
The meeting will be at 10.15am, 16 July, at the Methodist Church, Sidwell Street, EX4 6PH.
Make sure you have your say.
We all know we are facing a #HousingCrisis, nationally, in the South West, and in #Exeter. People can't afford to live where they grew up. The next #Labour government must commit to a strong home building programme.
It's great to have the endorsement from my friend @Dylan4Compton to be the next #Labour MP for Exeter. He is a brilliant and hard working local Cllr.
Happy 74th birthday to the NHS! My grandparents were doctors at the foundation of the NHS, & my dad was a NHS administrator for 50 yrs. So a huge thank you to all staff past & present for their work to keep us healthy & save lives
Thank you to my friend @JayneKirkham4 for her support for my campaign to be Exeter's next Labour candidate.
She's a leader in our region as Leader of the Labour Group on Cornwall Council & as the next Labour MP for Truro & Falmouth, & knows what it takes to succeed here.

ALT Jayne Kirkham, Labour Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Truro & Falmouth. I have known Neil for a number of years through his work on Labour's South West Regional Executive and we both stood in the 2019 EU Parliamentary elections. He works hard to represent people as a trade unionist alongside his full time job and family. Neil is caring, committee, inspires trust and would be a great MP.
