Founded in 1995 by general manager Amare Aregawi, The Reporter is Ethiopia’s oldest privately owned independent newspaper. The publication operates under the motto “Free Press, Free Speech, Free Spirit” and has covered national politics, regional conflicts, economic developments and social issues for more than three decades.
In a statement issued on Monday, the #EMA said its monitoring of content published and broadcast by the media house over the past year had identified what it described as “repeated violations of law and professional ethics.”

News: #Somaliland officials condemn attacks on #Oromo residents in #Borama after more than 150 homes reportedly damaged
The attacks involved groups of youths who vandalized, looted and set fire to homes occupied by Oromo residents, including families who had lived in the city for years. Some affected residents reportedly sought refuge at Borama airport and other locations they considered safe.
Awdal regional governor Boqor Hassan Dahir Haddi condemned the violence, saying it contradicted the community’s values of peaceful coexistence and hospitality.

At least 12 civilians were killed and several others injured in the latest drone strike targeting civilians collecting grain scattered from a truck that had been hit by a drone the previous evening in Rama town, Central Tigray, according local sources.
The attack occurred on Friday morning, October 30, when a drone struck civilians who had gathered to collect sorghum from a private truck carrying grain belonging to local traders. The truck had been hit by a drone strike at around 9 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, in the center of Rama town.
A local source who contacted #Addis_Standard by email said 12 civilians were killed instantly, while several others sustained injuries, including serious ones.
The situation remained critical, with some of the seriously injured requiring urgent medical attention but no available transportation to take them to hospitals

Implicating Oromummaa in Ethiopia’s imperial fantasy is not just an error; it’s a deliberate attempt to ride on the regnant anti-Oromo prejudice to galvanise the Oromophobic sections of the Ethiopian society against the Oromo people. This is not just a tactical error; it is actually doing the same thing Abiy Ahmed and his imperial predecessors have been doing in their wars (and genocidal campaigns) against the Oromo people: to break Oromo resistance against settler colonial rule, break Oromo nationalism.
