I was hugely taken with Clio Barnard’s #ISeeBuildingsFallLikeLightning, a tale of 5 childhood pals entering their 30s who are just realizing that their lives aren’t turning out the way they hoped. Strong characterizations & Enda Walsh’s top-flight script are highlights. #AFIFEST

Clayface is the first superhero movie I've ever been aware of that got a theatrical release where I never saw a trailer for it organically in a movie theater. I go to the movies at least once a week-the lack of trailers for this is BONKERS.

In his #NBPpodcast conversation, #Wildwood Director #TravisKnight discusses the purpose of #LAIKA and how he and his talented group of artists are trying to change the perception of animation in the film industry one movie at a time. Full interview: youtu.be/1q4hpZ7Jpq4?si=M6zw…

I think if we can entertain the idea that YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING will be nominated for Best Picture, then #Wildwood deserves the same level of consideration.

No idea if the film can do anything beyond Animated, but it is unequivocally one of the best directed movies of the year. The technical achievement is staggering. But also evocative emotionally. I’m probably “need to see it to believe it” but it’s worthy of BP and BD.
Couldn't stop thinking about Wildwood last night (fingers crossed I can publish a proper written review this weekend), so I decided to look into its BP nom chances. I noticed that all three animated movies that made it into BP (Beauty And The Beast, Up, Toy Story 3) landed in the top 10 of critics' consensus lists for their respective years. In fact, they didn't just crack the top 10, they cracked the top 5! I also looked up the animated movies I believe would've gotten in if the field had been a hard 10 that year (Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Aladdin, The Lion King, Toy Story, Shrek, WALL-E), and they all cracked the critics' consensus top 10 in their respective years too. I do think there's a slim, but not impossible, chance Toy Story 2 could've been #10 in its year, and it also made the top 10 in the critics consensus that year. So, if Wildwood can manage a top 5 finish on critics' "best of" lists (very hard IMO), it might actually get in. But cracking the top 10 (plausible) is a must if it stands any chance.

If you’re hoping for LAIKA to adapt the two Wildwood book sequels, they won’t. From Travis Knight saying that LAIKA doesn’t make sequels to the changes made for the film adaptation, it’s evident that Wildwood will remain a standalone movie version of the first book.

Love that Wildwood author Colin Meloy and Wildwood illustrator Carson Ellis got cameos in the movie.
A new clip from Laika’s ‘WILDWOOD’ has been released. In theaters tomorrow.

ELEPHANTS IN THE FOG is a fascinating examination of trans community in Nepal that features an intriguing mystery and engrossing characters. The atmosphere has a tragedy and beauty, both equally haunting. Pushpa Thing Lama’s central performance is quite endearing.
